When did Great Lakes ever add 25 net new FO’s to the line in a single month at a single base? Sounds like the training department is doing a great job. Maybe, these guys are screw ups after all.

It's a matter of which regionals have secured the best liars in order to lure new recruits through the door!

Not knowing the entire story, and never will, quite plausible.

I agree with that. SkyWest has been telling recruits that they are opening DFW as a base for months now.

In other news, Mesa is feeling confident enough with the amount of new hires to fire a couple of pilots for attendance issues. If they were genuinely sick with doctor's notes or used the commuter clause that is part of our contract, I would imagine the union would get involved. Probably a scare tactic, but it doesn't help with their morale issues.

In this pilot market, I don’t understand why anyone puts up with their crap. Mesa is basically union-less because they are so ingrained with management

I heard the ones that were fired had habitual absence patterns. Is that not the case?

If we worked in any other industry, if you are habitually sick, you are subject to termination.

I don't know the details. I'm just saying if they DID have valid reasons for being out that are covered in the contract, I would hope the union would get involved.

Does anybody know if they were CRJ or ERJ pilots that were fired?

That's the way it works if you're on probation in your first year, at ANY industry!

Probation is usually defined in a company's employee handbook, which is given to workers when they first begin a job. The probationary period also allows an employer to terminate an employee who is not doing well at their job or is otherwise deemed not suitable for a particular position or any position.
