I would love to see the rates Mag Alpa agreed too. Its alarming they were so bad national had to step in

Pardon my ignorance here. Shouldn’t national ALPA have been there from the start? If this is truly something that would affect all of the pilots, isn’t that what they’re paid for? As a youngin in this business I’m still learning, and this still seems elementary to have the national support when dealing with contracts.

Pangolin is probably more knowledgeable but I believe every MEC handles the vast majority of their own negotiations and gets to use some Alpa national resources. I think this is actually pretty out of the norm....I could be wrong will someone with ALPA knowledge chime in.

Doesn’t matter what industry you are in. This isn’t a new story. Management works a deal with senior union people to scratch their back, in turn they get the ball rolling. Looking out for #1 is the biggest weakness of any union and management knows how to exploit it. People selected got a deal to initially get it going.

The deal:

X hours per month (more than 76hrs) times their current rate for x months.

This gives management the ability to not have to negotiate rates up front. These guys get the program running, then every CA in the line will do it for the same rate they were making as an RJ driver. Watch and see. They will do it for the type rating and time in hopes of moving on. Guess you don’t need a security clearance to understand what’s going on. Just ask a check airmen who got hand selected out of seniority order to start the program.

People do what benefits them the most, it’s the weakness of every union.

One can only imagine. I remember sitting next to the Mesa negotiating chairman on a flight back in 2015 after their pilots had just voted down a TA by a large margin. He was trying to blame it on the "entitlement generation" when the truth is multiple regionals were voting down contracts at that time because they were sick of being overworked and underpaid. This guy was so out of touch with reality it wasn't even funny. I won't direct this at the entire Mesa pilot group but their union leadership seems to be continuously lowering the bar in this industry.

there was a rate. There were min hours over what the co wanted. But the exact amount is generally unknown but think atlas minus a few percent.

So take the lowest pay and lower it by a bit?
Question is: Why?
No-one expects to see industry leading from Mesa, but why the heck would you go to the lowest and then undercut it?.

I heard they had accidentally referenced an old out of date contract.
