Somebody posted a rejection letter from Mesa today on Facebook that said that when they start hiring again they were only considering applicants that already have their ATP until further notice. It told the applicant if they got their ATP on their own that they should update their application.
This is not surprising, once Regionals begin hiring again I would expect they would all rather hire an ATP then an applicant without one until the pool runs out to save money.

exactly. Makes sense from a business perspective to get the most qualified guys first. That pool will dry up quickly, then back to 1500 hr CFI’s.

How quickly will it dry up if there is a possibility another regional will fail, and there are already hundreds if not thousands of ATP pilots on the street from the 2 regionals that failed recently? Add reduced/non-existent demand for hiring and us waiting for a job are in a world of hurt.

Yup, I’d say you are right on the money, and the actual qualifications of those who get hired at a regional will be significantly higher than the last few years until at the very least the majors start hiring at a steady pace again. Regionals will drain the ATP 121 time candidate pool initially then 135 folk and keep moving backwards from there to your bare mins guys over time.
CPT programs are expensive, no way they will keep running those if they don’t have to so we have probably seen an end to airline paid CPT for awhile.

I received a conditional offer from Mesa about a month ago. Former 121 regional - 135 Charter - then Pt 91 captain experience. Received a letter saying they’re still not bringing people out of the pool, and have no idea when they’ll begin training new hires.
Feel overall lucky to have found another flying job that hired me to fly Pt 135 for them. Really crazy times out here.
