Default Mesa hiring pool info

As one in the hiring pool, I hope to receive valuable information from this thread. Please do not spam with off topic post and to say it lightly...crap.
We don't know much of anything and I hope this thread can help deliver useful information to us such as: recalls, hiring, timeline of our call in.

for those looking to spam this thread let me remind you we are without our careers and ways to provide for our families. good information is important to me and I'm sure others.

If ya'll know anything on the inside it is greatly appreciated.

No new information of when hiring will restart. Flying is still way down BUT it is increasing month to month on the American side (I don’t have details on how the UA side is doing). Furloughs are still unknown but we never got warning notices so that’s a little promising. The union is in talks with the company and the company wanted to reduce minimum guarantee pay to prevent furloughs but the union declined it so they are still in talks about what to do to prevent furloughs. The guys that hadn’t completed IOE and got furloughed awhile ago are still furloughed. There are about 80 guys who got furloughed during training. So they’ll bring them back first before hiring outside.

My personal belief (hopefully others won’t knock it and make it an argument because I agree it’s tough times for many people and this is just my belief) is that JO is going to be taking as much advantage as possible of this downturn in the industry and acquire flying from the regions that go under. Mesa isn’t going anywhere, and if anything maybe we come out of this a bigger airline. I don’t see any additional furloughs happening. With that being said, the time line is what you’re looking for on when we will be getting bigger and only time will tell the answer to that unfortunately. Professionals are saying a bounce back in 2024 but in all honesty you don’t really know so it’s only something time will answer for us.

Stay safe, and stay optimistic as I sure am even though it’s tough.

YYC and TUL added out of PHX starting 11/4.

So things are trending up as opposed to down right now. But only time will tell at this point.

I can make sure to update when I get info. Pretty much everyone ahead of me finished their IOE (E-Jet side) so I should definitely be the first class called back to training.

September 2nd there is a town hall with the CEO. Should be more details coming. No classes currently scheduled. Everything else you hear is rumors until it is announced.

Some updates:

-Company did not issue WARN notice as ALPA Union recently mentioned could be coming.

-ALPA voted down reduced guarantee MOU company was pushing for.

-Mesa Quarterly investor call showed Mesa making profit last 2 quarters during pandemic. 400+ pilot pool available from recruitment.

-Management is asking pilots to take Voluntary Leave of absence (VLOA) for October to receive 20 hours pay.

If training resumes, it will be posted on this thread for those who are waiting the hear back.

Brad Holt VP & COO just released an email to the pilot group.

“In the event Congress does not Extend the Payroll Protection Program into the 4th quarter of 2020, we would expect to furlough as follows:

Total estimated furloughs prior to the end of 2020:
-490 Pilots

This number would be broken down as follows:
-461 First Officers
-29 Captains

Approximate number of downgrades required:
-191 Captain to First Officer

The totals above are in addition to the 91 pilots currently on furlough

The above assumption that we continue to get 150 VLOA requests per month from volunteer pilots.

Welp, was hopeful that I could possibly be back in a seat by spring but seems like that was just squashed.

Yeah it’s crazy this someone was just asking about hiring today and then hours later that email came out saying a massive furlough is possible. Idk, it’s not a true warning notice. They could just be playing their cards with a scare tactic hoping we agree to the reduced hour MOU.

after that quarterly earnings call, that email was the last thing I expected. JO kept talking about new opportunities and revenue and yada yada, didn’t know that was CEO talk for “we’re a sinking ship”. I’m pretty sure that these numbers are the highest percentage wise of pilot furloughs.
