Will there be flights still conducted out of DFW or will it be 1 flight to IAH and then the "real" flying starts at IAH?

Like what SDF flying is, SDF>DFW?

Was thinking of changing base to dfw, but if it is early morning showtime like sdf and 1 leg to IAH, I change my mind

It’s unknown but the IAH base for crj will be better. I expect like Sdf style early start late finish. Some cooperation by the pilot group in bidding IAH will help make things more efficient.

Early start, late finish? So not commutable for people already commuting to their base and then deadheading to IAH? And no hotels either? Another mass exodus then.

My friend is currently in FO training, waiting on SIMs after SIT. He had wanted SDF as a base but given what seems to be a bigger need in IAH, he is wondering if he would be flying quicker and more often if he went to IAH. He could also consider DFW, but I would think the flying there will be shrinking since the AA contract is going away and United has very, very few flights out of DFW. Any thoughts?

IAH quickest to fly on the crj. Iad on the 175. I’m personally disappointed nobody is chiming in with cheap hotels.

As opposed to sitting waiting to consolidate.

We just don’t know how it’s all going to shake out. It I expect a couple months of “growing pains”.

$39 a night if you're trying to save a few bucks - but be warned it's a $hithole
Travel Inn & Suites
17607 Highway 59 North
Humble, TX 77396

These are better accommodations but about twice the price:
#1 Hyatt Regency Houston Intercontinental Airport - may offer you a flight crew discount - the restaurant was decent when I was there last - several airport shuttles
#2 Houston Mariott North

Plenty of others in the area, these are just the ones I have personally stayed and paid for.

If you haven't stayed around IAH before - it is not in a good area - stay clear of the "Greenspoint" area on foot.

There are a bunch of hotels of varying quality along JFK blvd (the main road leading to the terminals). Everything from Sheraton down to Red Roof. I would start there. Whatever you do, stay away from Greenspoint, which is west of the airport.
