Re displacements out of PHX due to ORD closing. Possible, but keep in mind PHX is finally growing again, so doubtful. The next base to get resized/shrink will be CLT.

And all of the above will literally cut you if you don't know exactly what you want to order when it's your turn in line at the Subway by the D-gates.

For an FO standing bid, the award will only list:

1) People awarded *new* domiciles which were higher up on their list of preferences

2) New hires who did not have a base assigned yet (they're awarded the domicile highest up on their list of preferences that they can hold)

Keep in mind the projected vacancy numbers are almost never exact, and it's a very dynamic process. Senior FOs moving around can create more or less slots to backfill in diff domiciles, the company changes their staffing requirements in diff bases around up until the minute they process the awards.

Hope that further clarifies the process!

Also keep in mind the average new hire will prob shuffle through 2+ FO standing bid cycles before finishing IOE and becoming bid-eligible (as long as we're still hiring/upgrading/moving flying around).

There were some gomers a few classes back who quit b/c they didn't seem to understand that their first award wasn't a permanent thing for the rest of their careers, and that they would likely bid out of Hawaii/Dulles prior to completing training, or so I've heard.

If someone were to take a september class date, do you think they would have missed the boat on the quick upgrade that has been talked about, or the posibility of said person to get into a PHX base within a year? Any thoughts?

Depending on a myriad of factors, I think the quick upgrade (~1.5 years) will last 1-2 more years. After that, I'd speculate it will only go up to 2.5-3.5 years for the foreseeable future.

Quick upgrade? No, unless there's some new flying that hasn't been announced yet.

PHX - it's possible within a year, I'd like to say likely.

Depends on hiring at the legacies and the overall economy--if age 65 materializes into decent attrition, the ball could keep rolling for a while.
