No pre employment sim ride at Mesa that I have heard of in quite a while. Right now it's mostly phone interviews and open houses.

Keep in mind Street hires could also mean bad news for those senior FO's. I remember in the past when we had street hires and then the upgrades stopped and we had junior street hire captains flying with senior FO's. That was interesting. It works great if you can get your upgrade before the upgrades stop, otherwise those street hires are just taking some FO's upgrade away every time Mesa adds one. So bottom line, hurry and get your hours and your upgrade before the window closes. FYI

I am surprised Mesa is still filling up the new hire classes. Everyone we are hiring right now won't become a captain unless we get awarded additional flying. Unless you already have the hours to upgrade, would it makes sense to come to Mesa, because then you might bypass senior FO's who do not. I would think PSA and Piedmont would be filling them full since guys getting hired now would have upgrades waiting. Although after they accepted those contracts I would understand why one might not go to PSA. Am I missing something? Are there more pilots looking for jobs then are available?

I'm wondering how many manuals new hires are issued. I don't really want to use my big old flight case from the paper Jepp days. It's just so bulky. I'd like to use something smaller, but need to know how many manuals. Any input?

Most use a laptop bag. Slip the Ipad in one pocket, headset in another, and Misc stuff like flashlight in others. The GOM and CFM are in the planes now. Very nice to carry so little.

This is not a joke or an exaggeration--they want to fly the shiny jet with the engines under the wings and tell their friends they fly for United. PSA/Piedmont wouldn't look as cool on their instagrams, because the pointy 900 doesn't look as cool.

Yes--you are missing the fact that many of the new people coming online right now are AllATP/Riddle types whose mommy and daddy paid for everything, and they're coming here for the Instagram pics in the cockpit of the EJet.
