Couldn't it be argued that someone should choose based on equipment and bases?

Why jump on someone who's honest enough to admit they want to fly a fancy jet? Those greasy turboprop jobs aren't getting people anywhere anymore, unless it's upgrading to fly a regional jet.

Possibility of a CRJ class in December, or the first 175 class "around the new year" (date not set in stone). Base for the 175 looks like at first IAH.

Starting CRJ classes are being held a few weeks to allow for the sim backlog to work itself out. Recruiter said that the problem is 100% of those hired are showing up to class, which was not what they were expecting.

As a young CFI with diagnosed SJS, any reason why I shouldn't go with Mesa? Looks like it will be very little time on reserve, with 175 seats being filled with 100% of new hires. Not to mention the likelyhood of a quicker upgrade than almost any other regional out there
This is why the regionals will never get better.

I get to fly an airplane with engines on the wings! Upgrade time will be so short I'll only be a FO for a year! I'll just do my time and use this "stepping stone" I'll be at a legacy in 2 years!

Get real dude, a plane is a plane all that matters is pay and QOL. NOWHERE has a quick upgrade at the moment and everything could change tomorrow depending on which way the whipsaw is bending. If you're really serious about this regional game "which blows" find a regional with a contract and go there. Everyone is hiring and unless you have a ton of skeletons in your closet you can go to any regional.

Do you honestly think someone is going to hire a 170 guy over a emb120 guy simply because the guy flew a 170?

I'll admit the phone hiring is a bit odd, but as is previously posted, you still have to pass training, which is in itself and extended interview process.

As for SJS, as a poor CFI working his A** off trying to get the ATP mins, what's wrong with me looking at a) job security b) relative health of the airline, and c) the opportunity for advancement, and deciding that Mesa is a great place to ditch the student pilots who can barely hold straight and level while on the ground and move into the 121 world?

I'm sick of people already in the industry looking down on young pilots like me and saying we are what is wrong with the regionals. The regionals is what's wrong with the regionals.

They're not where you should be striving to be at. The majors is the end game and I believe that Mesa will be a great stepping stone to them. So stop arguing about which regional is worse and accept that it is a stepping stone to greater things.

I currently have interviews with XJT and RAH set. I am considering others as well. The decision about going to Mesa is not made yet, but the more I look at it the better it looks for myself and my career

Wasn't that your song when you got hired at a regional? Or was your starting at one some great benevolent act to benefit all of humanity?

Hmmm your ABCs and Mesa don't really go together all that well.

The regionals are NOT a stepping stone, and yes guys with your attitude are the problem. Look at the past decade, there has been no movement for guys at the regionals. I fly routes like SFO-AUS, LAX-DFW, IAD-COS. There is nothing regional about that. 900s and 175s are not regional aircraft, times have changed, regionals are not a stepping stone.

PS I never worked at Mesa but the first time I flew with an Ex-Mesa guy and he told me about a Mesa "standup" I about fell over. all these new guys should know what they are getting into
