But seriously, we have a fraction of the pilots of Envoy and most other regionals with higher payrates.

We're operating under a bankruptcy contract, and a decent chunk of the new hires--esp those on the EJet side--are 121 refugees like myself and prior121, who have been way more screwed over by this industry than you can even imagine--even when you say you've been at "three different regionals with no turbine PIC" (awwwww).

Don't get your panties in a wad if Mesa gets a handful of E175s from AA--we've been flying for Parker since before most of us were done with high school, and, unlike PSA we have never knowingly and directly taken concessions to acquire airframes from another carrier.

Go find someone else to feel sorry for you--we didn't create your situation in life, and most of us have been through enough in our own careers that we don't really feel bad for whiners like you--go do something constructive like attend a job fair instead of wasting your time trolling the thread of an airline whose pilots have never done anything directly to inhibit your career progress (drops mic).

Furthermore, MAG pilots stood up to J.O. some 14 years ago when the CR7 arrived on the scene. MAG pilots said NO to $hit rates and J.O. started alter-ego Freedom to punish the MAG pilots.

Yea that was his plan all along. Punish the bad pilots. If you think J.O. thinks about anything other than the bottom line then you are completely unaware.
It never ceases to disappoint and sometimes even amaze me as to how ignorant and lazy most pilots are. YOU WORK FOR A COMMUTER!!!!!! The pay is low, the schedule is sometimes hard, and your life sucks. As you gain seniority those things generally change for the better. Here are the 2 things you need to know. 1. GET YOUR TIME AND MOVE ON! 2. IF YOU SCREW UP AND CANNOT MOVE ON THEN GET ON THE NEGOTIATION COMMITTEE AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT FOR THE PILOTS THAT HAVE LONGEVITY AT THE AIRLINE! Any regional pilot group that negotiates a contract allowing higher pay for low longevity pilots, at the expense of higher pay rates for more senior pilots are idiots. The positive side of the "commuter experience", is that it encourages you to leave. One last thing, I get soooooo tired of hearing that you are not paid what you are worth. You are paid either exactly what you are worth, or in most cases slightly more than you are worth. You signed up for this gig. Did the rules change after you got off IOE? If some of you hate it so much, and you are so held down by the "man", then perhaps you can stop your whining long enough to apply for that job at McDonald's. After all, a number of you think that since you might make more money at McD's that that would represent happiness in your life. Don't even get me started about all the whining about student loan debt.

Why does every A-hole think a regional airline CEO is out to screw the pilots? Quit taking things so rediculously personal. It's a CEO's job to make the company money. I agree with Maxjet. Stop the whining!

I agree, J.O. is just doing his job, which is to cut costs as much as possible while being able to maintain the number of pilots he needs to maintain operations...
It's no ones fault but their own if they stay somewhere that they are not happy... Yes, I understand this industry has us all by the balls because of the seniority system. Your experience means nothing, you start over at the bottom if you go somewhere else. Again, we all knew that was the case before signing up.
It's no different than a person buying a cheap house next to an airport, then complains about the airport noise.
Right now, I am getting 15 to 16 days off a month, able to bid a schedule that is commutable, can fly into and leave work the day of, I don't need much else.
One thing that I have to say about Mesa is that 95% of my fellow pilot group are a great bunch of guys to fly with. Everyone is nice... Stockholm syndrome has its benefits

Best thing regional pilots can do for themselves is get in get the time, and GTF out. From a business stand point, the regional model is not good for the pilots. FO pay sucks, and if you are fortunate enough to make it to captain with any kind of longevity, it can be taken away in s heart beat and then you're back to making first year pay. There's no reason for a company to raise pay while people are knocking on their door.

That being said, you get what you pay for. You pay low wages and play games with schedules, dangl carrots and all the other things these companies like to do, some people are going to complain. Others are going to leave after 4 months.

I was merely pointing out to the folks who bash Mesa for having a crap contract, comparatively speaking to other regionals, that in fact the Mesa pilots had an opportunity to cave and didn't. In return J.O. started Freedom. That is all.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. When I left ASA for CAL back in '06 several of my peers questioned the move because of the crummy first year pay at CAL ($29/hr, and no healthcare for the 6 months, that's what scabs do for ya!). I told those folks that contracts are negotiable and the majors actually have leverage unlike the regionals, of course I got a few sideways looks but whatever. Now some of those same folks are hitting me up for LOR's because first year pay is just under $70 an hour and second year pay is just over $100 an hour. For me, my hourly rate as a 777 FO is higher than the 756 CA's I flew with back under the old contract back in '07.

Sorry to hijack this severely hijacked thread, but some advice from a current Mesa pilot would be appreciated on the following:
I am currently in basic indoc at Mesa for the CRJ. But based on the fact that I am prior 121, they are telling me that they can offer me the E Jet if I would like to do that instead.
Besides the fact that the E Jet is a sweet ride, any other considerations???
