I want you to give me one so you can monitor everything I do on it, restrict apps and require me to pay you for it when I leave!! Also I want to have to carry around 2 ipads for personal use. Jeez! My job sucks. You can take this 18 month upgrade and shove it!!!!!!!

Yes they do expect you in base the next day if you do not say otherwise. If you did not bid for the first few days off of the next bid then you can call crew line adj. and ask for a few days off. They give you 3-5 based on how far your move is. Usually it is just 3. HOWEVER, you will lose 3 hours (or maybe it was 3.9) of pay for each day you take from your min. guarantee as it is not days off, but rather days absent. Best to not take more then you absolutely need. We do not have move days in our contract so you lose pay when you ask for days off (absent) for a move.

Here is an Excerpt from FAA Advisory Circular AC 120-76B regarding EFB's:
"(2) The operator should identify a means to demonstrate that adequate security measures are in place to prevent malicious introduction of unauthorized modifications to the EFB’s operating system, its specific hosted applications, and any of the databases or data links used to enable its hosted applications (i.e., security risk assessment). The operator also needs to protect the EFB from possible contamination from external viruses."
The above is a recommendation only, but it explains why many air carriers ISSUE an IPAD (EFB) to crewmembers and "lock it down" so personal Apps won't be downloaded. This helps prevent possible "interfere" with displaying information that is essential for Safety of Flight...

Bid the IAD->DFW TDY and you'll already be in DFW the whole month of December (with tons of per diem and a paid hotel room).

The reliability and security of the iPad and Apple iOs are the very, very, very, very, very last things on my mind when I'm flying. The airplane and the guy next to you are way more likely to malfunction (or be compromised) and kill you.
Given the FAA's logic on this, they should similarly be requiring all paper Jepp revisions to be delivered by a secure mail service, and signed for by the pilot receiving them with ID confirmation by the mail service. Otherwise, it's equally likely "malicious" bad charts could be introuced by some sociopathic flight geek trying to get us to tune up the wrong localizer (gasp!).

Any IAD FO RSVs who commute to IAD should bid the DFW TDY.
Remember the company positive spaces you there, puts you up in a hotel and you get per diem the entire time. VS sitting in the crash pad or spending money on a hotel room at IAD.
