Because the OP didn't sound like an SJS'er, but was rather stating a valid point. The CR2 is the "junk-jet" of the CRJ line, thus the line is practically dormant. In fact, the CRJ line doesn't compare with the Ejet line when it comes to performance, mission capability, passenger comfort, and so on.
But yes they are shiny, for now.

We live north of the airport (25 minutes to the parking lot, no traffic) in The Woodlands/Spring area. Living west out near Katy or Sugarland can be a rough commute with traffic, which is pretty much all day now. East is Kingwood which is nice, but most in Kingwood prefer coming over to The Woodlands for shopping, entertainment, etc. PM me if you want more info.

If you're commuting there are several hotels on JFK (always thought it ironic that JFK Blvd brings you in to Bush Intercontinental). These hotels are fairly inexpensive if you are a line holder and only need it 3-4 times a month. There are some good crash pad options that offer transportation.

The airport is almost out of the Houston city limits. Its a long drive from downtown and the traffic sucks. Terminal B is almost 15 minutes to the C gates. I'm not sure why all the crj guys are bidding for the ejet? 3 months of training on fo pay vs 1 week on the crj? plus more base options...

Your right, it's better to rationalize the pay rates and stick your head in the sand than to face the issue head on and try to do something about it.
Maybe if more people felt ashamed or embarrassed, and actually got upset about the state of the industry, instead of just rationalizing everything, things would start to change.

People have been blurting that same crap over and over again like any things going to change. Pay sucks? Well get your time in and move on. We can ***** about more money if we want and pretend we are at the majors but that is not the case. Envoy guys wanted more money and now pretty soon a good chunk of them are going to be out of a job.

And people keep saying the same thing over and over: get your time and get out. As if its just that easy. Tell that to many of the regional captains who already put 10, 12, or 15 years in. That is a good chunk of the prime of your life. Make sure you pick a regional that will pay you the best, and try live where you're based. Go for a quality of life because you could be there a while. Don't count on a quick departure from the regionals and onto the majors. If it happens, great.
All 3 majors are drawing applicants from the same pool, and UAL & DAL are pulling 200+ a month combined. That pool will dry up sooner rather than later, probably within 5 years.

I know a lot of these guys because if I was still at a regional I'd be one of them. It was hard for them to bail at the time because it was all about the money. Heck, I know several XJT guys who had the opportunity to come to CAL back in '06 and '07 but chose not to because of the crap first year pay, etc. They instead hung out making $100k, became LCA's, etc and are now seeing the writing on the wall, its time to get out! Others have gotten interviews in the past and either bombed it, or more simply, they had too may skeletons in their closet to get the call.
