I have a CRJ class date offered for November, I like the idea of getting to move back to IAD. You guys think the upgrade time is really gonna slow down? I really don't want to live in DC for years on Mesa's FO pay.

I think the reason there is some hesitancy on saying new hires may not get the quick upgrade is because there are theoretically enough FO's on property to fill all the CA seats on the planned aircraft deliveries. For anyone new to get a CA seat, there would have to be additional growth beyond the current known deliveries or attrition from the CA side. My understanding is that CA attrition is still pretty low right now. Most of the movement is taking place because of new airplanes.

As for doing my research, I am doing so and my posts are part of it, bro!

Theoretically 40 (30 EJETS 10 900s) airplanes at 6 CAs per plane 5.5 per plane, .5 for attrition is 240 upgrades.
Let's say 40 have already been awarded upgrade. 30 for E175 10 for new CRJ900s
That leaves 200 more captains needed. Hypothetically all those FOs are already on property.
I've been pretty conservative with my numbers thus far and I've been off.
I never expected the most junior CA in June of 2014 to be 552. My calculations said 500-515 at best. I also never expected a fall 2013 hire to be able to hold PHX yet. I figured it would have been this winter before we saw that kind of movement.
Either way, if you are hired this summer or fall, I'm afraid the upgrade opportunity isn't as guaranteed as it is to those of us hired last year. #600-750 on seniority list.
Now if we get more airplanes than this 40, which JO keeps hinting to, that all would change. There's still 60 AAG E175s to be awarded.
It's rolling dice folks.
