PHX as a hub certainly won't grow, not between DFW and LAX. They may turn over some of the skywest flying to us, but I wouldn't expect many if any new routes to start.

Don't forget that it's quite possible to shrink as a mainline hub but grow as a regional airline hub. Hence the possibility of Mesa taking over some former mainline routes as mainline flying gets shifted between the AA hubs. Just speculation

I'm more miffed about people constantly getting junior assigned than a destination one visits for no more than 10 hours. Which is an obvious management problem. Also had a Envoy jumpseater who said he wasnt going to wear a headset incase we wanted to talk trash. I told him that were all in the same boat rowing in the same direction and that wasn't going to happen.

Everyone I've talked to who has been "junior assigned" has been either:

1) A yes-man who would do anything the company asked anyways, and doesn't mind

2) An FNG who doesn't know the contract and answered the phone/accepted the JRA when they didn't have to at all

3) A reserve who has no idea how to bid reserve shifts or golden days, but carelessly just bumbles along for months without knowing the contract at all

4) Some combination of all of the above

Not knocking on ya'll--it takes time to learn the ropes at this and any other airline--but you shouldn't be getting junior assigned "constantly." If you aren't available you aren't available.

Finally, a guy who gets it!!!! Glad to see a few great thinkers are still there.

Stop accepting JA's there! You aren't obligated to do so and even with the crappy contract Mesa has "junior assignments" are not enforceable. A few weeks ago I said the same thing to a user on here named Sennat and he or she was worried about being put on the line with a CP.....WHO CARES???? Tell him the same thing "I'm not contractually obligated to accept a junior assignment, however if you choose to use me for junior availability I'm not available". Simple enough. When I was at that place I said just that 4-5 times and nothing more came about.

Staffing that place is nobodies problem but Mesa's. Let them figure out the root of staffing there is management!

I tell them I'm not available but for 300% I can change my plans and become available. I put the ball back in their court. I also tell them the sooner they put the 3X in Rainmaker the sooner I can head to the airport.

Unless Mesa is going to get back into the CRJ 200 game. Or 700's and Aspen qualified . I doubt it...

A jumpseater calling the shots? Tell him to **** off and get another ride home.
I JS'd on AA just yesterday and the crew said I needed to where a headset under 10k- first time a crew had ever asked me to do so.
SO... I put it on. It's their call, not mine, and I never would've dreamed of saying no.
The Envoy dude who did that probably also came into the cockpit and announced he was up front, instead of politely asking for a ride.

How does one "where" a headset?
