Mesa Airlines Announces Agreement

to Expand its United Express Fleet with 15 New E175 Aircraft

PHOENIX, Oct. 6, 2015 – Mesa Airlines, Inc. today announced an agreement with United Airlines to add 15 Embraer 175 aircraft to Mesa’s United Express fleet.

“We are very pleased to expand our relationship with United with the addition of these 15 new Embraer E175 jets,” said Chairman and CEO Jonathan Ornstein. “Mesa has proven itself as a quality operator of this aircraft type in terms of customer satisfaction and is competitive in terms of cost efficiency. The combination of these two attributes has made Mesa the fastest growing airline in the world over the last three years and will continue to fuel our growth into the future.”

Paul Foley, Executive Vice President and COO added, “Besides the obvious benefit of expansion to Mesa, the addition of new aircraft greatly enhances advancement opportunities for our people, our pilots and other operational employees in particular. The addition of these aircraft will create a minimum of 75 new captain upgrade positions that significantly increase pay, 150 newly-hired first officers, 150 new flight attendant positions and over 100 additional mechanics, supervisors , dispatchers, planning and support staff".

And the quick upgrade train continues full speed.......

So our pilot group annihilated the TA and we still got more airplanes. This should put the "United is pulling those birds because Mesa's operational performance sucks" rumors to rest.

#1 - JO has no incentive to give us a better contract. At this point, as long as they are adding new aircraft and attracting new employees, he doesn't even have to offer new hire bonuses. Take the emotion out of it. If you were in a management position, you would agree that there is no reason to concede anything with us, the pilot group. It would be nice if they did, but they don't have to, and they wont until growth stops. When people stop coming, then maybe there will be some concessions on the side of management. Its not personal, its how business is done in a capitalist society.

#2 - Any ideas on when delivery's start?

As the company grows, the fixed costs get spread thinner than before thus the company makes more money. Regardless, JO is a happy guy.

Isn't Mesa doing the same thing that RAH was doing? Signing razor thin CPA's to gain as much flying as possible? Lol we all know how that one ends.

Does Mesa have to pay for any of the fuel they use on the United side? Complete rumor from an unreliable source but I was told after so much fuel is burned, Mesa eats the cost. True or False? Not trying to start anything but I thought this rumor to be absurd. He was pretty adamant that it's in the CPA and I called BS.
