I have a friend of a friend who was tied up in either the continental or United (don't remember which) strike. He was a new hire in sim training, obviously on probation, when the strike happened. The instuctors/management told them they didn't have a choice, had to show up or they'd get fired, and that because they were new and in training it wasn't flying struck work or crossing the picket line. Seems innocent enough to me, but he is on the scab list and he will forever fly as a scab. If I was new to the industry that would seem like the right course of action. This guy was getting out of the military and had no other job and no airline or union experience. At least that's the 2nd hand story I was told, though I've never talked to the guy. So I don't know how true it is. But some people just get stuck in bad situations.

The freedom A list isn't a part of the scab list, though. Although once when I worked at Mesa and was jumpseating, the US Air CA looked up his freedom A list to make sure I wasn't on it before allowing me to ride.

I have only one comment to make about Freedom, or GoJet for that matter. At the time these airlines were created to get around scope, or to screw pilots the whole industry was in an UPROAR! EVERYONE knew what was going on, and potential pilots were warned. If anyone says they were unaware they are LYING. You can probably go back on APC and see posts about it from back then.

Think someone said there was 4 last month and 12 this month or something like that. I don't think they are full classes.

One of the DPE's in South Florida is on the scab list. My friends student was doing a check ride with him, and my friend mentioned the scab list. Needless to say, his student was promptly failed soon after.
Don't mention that list to Kingston.

A scab DPE punished the student, oh well. If explain the failure truthfull and honest he or she will have no problem during his or hers future interview.

Freedom A list and Gojet list has its own consequences at ALPA properties as well
