The same had been said about pretty much every other airline. How about when all the regionals went after psa for selling out pay for 900's. Or go jet and their alter ego airline. Just to name 2. Deep down every regional is basically the same, fighting for crumbs dropped upon us in a cag match hosted by mainline.

The "why the eff would you go to Mesa?" thing has only existed for about a year and half. Before that, plenty of "competent and professional" people came here to upgrade. And before that, Mesa had been around since 1980. The entirety of the pilot group isn't represented by a fraction of the new hires. Even now, some people just choose to come here. I don't know why. They just do. A less exaggerated version of the people daOldMan describes exist in each class (as in all regionals), but the standard 1500-hour CFI type is still present as well. Also, a lot of these international people are coming from foreign airlines to get 121 time. I don't know the recruiting tactics, but maybe Mesa is going after these folks. Heck, in the past year and a half the Navy, AF and Army (pilots, that is) have all been represented. Yes, I realize the daOldMan's post is troll-ish, but don't rag on your fellow pilots.
As far as leaving goes, once you're here, jumping to another regional isn't necessarily the best financial/career decision considering the break in flight time and income (especially as a captain), as well as the fact that Mesa simply has to come up with a new contract at some (very soon) point to stay in business, in which case you've received the pay bump transitioning to another regional would have provided.

Today, Mesa Air Group pilots announced that the group has received a grant of $2 million from ALPA's Major Contingency Fund. This money is directed for events and projects that will support the Mesa pilots in their efforts to secure a contract that includes industry-average compensation. The pilot group has been in negotiations with airline management for six years, while pilots at similar fee-for-departure airlines have signed new agreements—widening the compensation gap even more.
"While we've seen pilots at other comparable airlines get raises and bonuses, our pilots continue to work under an outdated contract that includes substandard pay," said Capt. Andy Hughes, Mesa MEC chairman. "These funds will help us exert pressure on a company that is more than willing to invest in new aircraft, but reluctant to invest in Mesa pilots."

Why can't they take that cool 2mil and give it to the people who deserve it......the pilots. I'll bet that money will disappear quickly and nothing will change or get accomplished.
They are just pulling the wool over you guys eyes.

What would $2mil do if they gave it to the pilots?
