I'll probably get called a rogue cowboy and other versions of not being a team player for saying this, but we need to approach negotiations from the standpoint of demanding what we deserve or we shut the doors. Plain and simple. Anything less IMO will equate to undesirable results for the pilot group. We are holding the rest of the industry back. Yes it would temporarily suck being out of a job but the industry and ourselves will be better for it. I appreciate what ALPA does for us in other aspects but maybe it's time for us pilots to send a clear message to management.

Even when most of us move on, if Mesa still exists with a $hitty contract then we will be feeling it the rest of our careers as someone will always be willing to accept employment here and keep the bar low for the industry as a whole.

You can demand all you want, JO and friends don't care. Only thing he will respond to is cancelations due to staffing. He made that pretty clear. Go make close to $60k at another regional waiting for a Lcc/legacy/other big airplane company to call. There is nothing at Mesa worth staying for unless you are starting to accrue PIC time or otherwise have a good QOL.

They come to Mesa chasing the quick upgrade. Now they are stuck with crappy pay and crappy mgt. Quick upgrade is over for now.

What about the rest of us who are here at Mesa who will be out of a job? Dumb **** like this is why no other labor group supports the pilots.

The only way you're going to get JO to "find his wallet" is in the actual event of a strike.

Actually if you applied now, if you're an fo, you'd get a raise. If you're a captain then you'll break even. If and when Mesa goes out of business upgrades would be less then a year at the good regionals that pick that flying up. So, if your stuck at Mesa because you can't get hired elsewhere, well bye, but if that's not the case apply somewhere else get hired. Do you not like money, going somewhere else will be a plus for you.

Actually just stay at Mesa, being at the bottom is easy.

Lots of other companies pay mechanics better, too. I know you know this as you just interviewed elsewhere, I think you said. All labor groups should bargain for better wages. If Mesa stopped getting mechanics in the door, or if you all left, you'd get better wages too. Reactive supply and demand is how Mesa works. The difference right now is that pilots are in short supply, and every other regional has doubled wages for newhires because of the shortage. Mesa has done nothing. The mechanic shortage isn't exactly the same. Also, pilots generally have $100,000+ invested in this career, with loads of debt, and a career expectation of higher wages than a mechanic. That's just how it goes. Military mechanics get paid less than military pilots. It's the same on this side. You guys do a vitally important job and should be compensated accordingly, but flyers compensation is generally higher than fixers.

Supply and demand, cost of entrance into the career, and collective bargaining agreements industry wide cause the pay differential. But being upset at a pilot group for (maybe) demanding industry standard wages because you work for a bottom feeder airline as a mechanic is misdirected anger and frustration. No pilot group should sit around working for 1/3 of what other companies pay to keep jobs for mechanics. Doesn't make sense.
