I'll probably get called a rogue cowboy and other versions of not being a team player for saying this, but we need to approach negotiations from the standpoint of demanding what we deserve or we shut the doors. Plain and simple. Anything less IMO will equate to undesirable results for the pilot group. We are holding the rest of the industry back. Yes it would temporarily suck being out of a job but the industry and ourselves will be better for it. I appreciate what ALPA does for us in other aspects but maybe it's time for us pilots to send a clear message to management.
Even when most of us move on, if Mesa still exists with a $hitty contract then we will be feeling it the rest of our careers as someone will always be willing to accept employment here and keep the bar low for the industry as a whole.

Supply and demand, cost of entrance into the career, and collective bargaining agreements industry wide cause the pay differential. But being upset at a pilot group for (maybe) demanding industry standard wages because you work for a bottom feeder airline as a mechanic is misdirected anger and frustration. No pilot group should sit around working for 1/3 of what other companies pay to keep jobs for mechanics. Doesn't make sense.
