Take copious amounts of notes, you'll want to review them when interview time rolls around. Aaron knows his chit.

MIP? Who you wanna go spend 14 days on an around the world trip with? The Sunday School volunteer and Boy Scout leader, or that guy who got arrested at Spring Break drinking on the beach with coeds?

You don't have to be a choir boy to get hired. I never met a fighter pilot worth a **** who didn't like to drive fast....at least until he had to put car seats in the vehicle. (BTW...most performance detrimental accessory there is...I never could get my car over about 70 once I put car seats into them...hmmmm)

Something worse or recent? We can talk. More than 10 years ago or under 22? Prolly just a story....

True story. Hope the app reviewers see it that way. Thanks.

True story. And no one gets to talk about it/explain till interview.

But as you know, in this day and age it's about how the human H.R. eyeballs/computer alagorythm filters the app that can prevent one from getting there in the first place.

Sadly, they like the former of your question vs. the latter.

***FOLLOW UP QUESTION***

I guess I have a more checkered past than I thought.

In 2007, I received an administrative enforcement from the FAA in the form of a warning notice. I got this from a runway incursion while acting as a CFI at an unfamiliar field. No legal enforcement action, and I owned up to it at the time. It is allegedly supposed to be expunged after 2 years, but I believe it's still out there and should be reported.

I guess I should have added this to my original post from the very beginning, but I honestly forgot about it since it had been so long. In any case, should this worry me since I will put this on my applications? If people forgot my full situation, please reread the original post below.

-I had about 7 or so speeding tickets all from 2011 and earlier.

-I got arrested and thrown in the drunk tank for a night in college (2007) with a minor consumption charge. As it was my first offense and I complied with the courts' programs, everything was dismissed. They were not expunged, though.

I'd like to know if this is this a show stopper or if I still have a chance. Also, any guidance on how to handle this when applying will be helpful. I know I was pretty stupid back in the day.

Currently about 1500 TT
500 civilian
1000 military
ATP
BE-400 SIC Type
Aviation Safety Officer
CRM Instructor

Thanks in advance.

I had a similar "administrative action" on my record from my pre-military days. As mentioned, it should have gone away after two years... I brought it up anyway and used it as a learning experience. As long as you're forthcoming and humble about your mistakes, this shouldn't be an issue for you. Your record since everything listed above speaks for itself. Best of luck.

When you say you "brought it up" you mean put it on your application? And you think this combined with everything else I'm still looking at a good shot?

Yes, I put it on my application and elaborated on it during the interviews. Talked about how my administrative action was the most personally and professionally embarrassing moment of my life and how much I learned from it. Much like yourself, it happened before my 11 years of mil flying. Your record since then will speak for itself... Flight leadership (WTI, quals, etc) mishap free flight hours, and an ability to learn from your screw-ups will go a long way.

Yes, you'll be fine.

Put it on your application. Be prepared to take responsibility for it and explain what you learned from the experience and why you are a better aviator for having had it happen when you are in an interview.

There are people flying at the majors today with far blacker marks than that on their records.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just surprised to hear that I'd be fine. I figured most replies would say that I can't get to a major right away with these blemishes and I'd have to prove myself elsewhere. Good to know I shouldn't worry.
