I've seen alot of dumb things in my 12 years in the AF, but this one takes the cake. I'm the first guy to stand up, salute smartly, say "yes, sir" and support the leadership when I think there's a good reason, and even sometimes when I don't. But stuff like this makes it pretty hard to do. Moseley is an idiot. He's in charge, time for him to go. This, along with his stupid .357 comment, and the new service dress uniform is more than enough reason to fire his "chunk from goonies" a**.
Seems like the AF will forevere have growing pains / identity crisis...
TQM was a stupid idea for a 'war fighting' organization and I couldn't believe I sat in the class and listened to people get excited about it...I admit had I been in the service for more than a few weeks I may have been excited as well...
Why a C-172 for UPT? Thought they used T-37 and T-6s?
What do the Iraqis have in their AF that can fly?

TMike made the comment that when he is in the AOR, he carries a .357 (no mention of if it was .357Sig or magnum...)
They're not using a C-172 for UPT. Buzz said in an earlier post,
The Iraqis are using the SAMA CH2000, which is like a small Piper Cherokee 140, and NOT a Cessna 172.

Yeah, we have a Major (former F-16 driver now a T-38 IP) from my squadron in Iraq now training the new Iraqi AF. She is flying a SAMA (Zenair) CH-2000 (looks like a C-172 to me) and a Cessna Caravan.

"Friendly Arab Country" now there's a contradiction in terms. You might recall Saudi Arabia kicked us out (yeah I know we still have some stuff there, but 99% is gone).
More to the point, I think the idea is to stand up their military as a self sufficient force which by definition would mean they'd have to be in their out country.
Plus, any arab country safe enough to host such a base is still a damn sight better than Iraq so I don't think it would solve the AWOL/desertion rate much.

Anyone feeling nostalgic for the carefree days of living in the coalition compound?
