Well, granted, if you're hanging out having a few beers and are sharing war stories a gunship driver is going to be more than happy to tell a few of his.

And our medal package of course. And all of the "me first" crap that goes on at Hurlburt Field. AFSOC used to be the "Quiet Professionals" but now we can't even hear ourselves talk over all of the back pounding and self-glorification that goes at the 1st SOW. It's ridiculous.

Sounds more like a MH-53 or T2 description than a gunship. Rarely is a full gunship crew ever credited medal-wise for their accomplishments. Sure, the crew is usually not very pleased with the double standards when it comes to recognition. The top brass within the command rarely allows a full gunship crew get put in for significant awards (i.e. once I know of). Their mindset seems to be, "We can't put a full crew of 13 in for 'fill in the blank'." Instead, a select few get recognized. From our perspective it looks like the spec ops aircraft with smaller crews (and more significant leadership at the wing level and higher) get the nod. Don't read this as I'm displeased on my part, but my navs and gunners are all too often overlooked. So, yeah, our guys don't care for it much and grumble from time to time, but for the most part they keep going at our jobs (read: Spectre 7 years plus deployed and still going) knowing what really counts in the end.

Ladies, ladies...

There's lot's o' "I'm a bigger hero than you are" going on here. It's embarrassing even to read.

There's only a few fixed wing heroes in this one and they're all dead.

Sorry Tbone - Magnum 2 / you 0. Funny as hell and spot on. And to think, I was just as guilty as you in prior MDS days. Why the ****** did we use chalk again? (Besides the fact Cujo forced me too throughout FLUG of course...)

Enjoy training at DAL!

Not to mention the fact that the "red" was pink when it went on the board, anyway...good riddance to that era.
