I'm a retired air battle manager, and have gained insight through this board. Hope I'm not out of line by posting. I have submitted my package to AFPC and have a completed physical in the PEPP system. Through many emails to a MSgt at AFPC I have found that my 60 day clock started when my completed physical was entered into PEPP (last Friday) The SG also asked for me to do a treadmill test, for whatever reason, which I passed yesterday. The way I understand it, now that my package is 100% complete, they will start reviewing my paperwork for eligbility and eventually forward my info to assignments who will then contact me to see if we can reach an agreement on a location. I, too, have asked for the world. I specified Germany (specifically Ramstein), and Northern Italy. I plan to stand and fight for these choices. The SG has 30 days to review my physical and get back to Recall Ops. Then, my package has to meet the BOARD. I don't see what the purpose of the BOARD is unless they think they'll have so many applicants that they'll have to make the tough decision and weed out a few. Hurry up and wait! I'll post more as my package progresses.

so is this process impossible for a Navy guy? Currently a reserve T-6 guy in Pensacola, 13 years active and it's tempting to go back and finish if it meant I could stay with the AETC side of things. I did do T-37 time in primary/intermediate, but of course lack all of the fancy AF forms and records.

You may want to give them a copy of your Medical rather then rely on PEPPS. Although they can look it up, it takes more time since they need appproval before they pull your medical records. Therefore AFPC suggested I send them a copy to help the initial process. Remember 60 days is a goal, otherwise what you said about the process seems the same as what I have been told. Good Luck

Heard yesterday that the AF is short by 1800 pilots. Hard to believe, but the source is highly credible. Obviously not all of them are flying jobs, and alot of them are UAS/MC-12 type seats. I would think that retired guys could get in pretty easily based on that.

would have stayed in if they had the 20 year bonus. The five year was not enough incentive. The price wasn't right for me to stay in. The price still isn't right for me to go back. Right now, for me to seriously consider going back would take a $25k/yr bonus to the 20 yr retirement. Anything other than that, I am not remotely interested.

cfic,
Thanks for the advice. AFPC has actually viewed me in PEP already, in fact, the day it was entered in PEPP, the AETC/SG viewed it and asked for the treadmill stress test. The flight doc tech at Maxwell is supposed to email my physical forms for my records. Hopefully they won't go much past 60 days if any. We're ready to go!!

Wish you the best of luck. I still have not heard of anyone actually getting an assignment. Is there anyone who knows someone who has actually submitted a package and then returned to active duty? I will post news when I hear something.
This program is pretty broad, Retired, Reserve, Guard, and those who got out early.

A MSgt working inside AFPC told me that the first board has not even met yet and they haven't even set a date, so who knows when they'll meet. I still don't see the need for a board. They ask us to come back, we pass the physical, w submit all of the required paperwork, then some board has to decide if we're worthy. LOL

I mentioned in my email that my TC-12B time could set me up for the King Air units they are standing up - or for an AETC / CNATRA tour.
I teach in a joint USN/USAF/USMC Training Squadron. After I got the "no thanks" email, the unit XO (USAF LTC) called AFPC to see what he could do. He was also told - only looking for Retired USAF.
If they change their mind, please let me know.
