If you volunteer for a UAV, I don't think they'll say no. Training slots are filled, though, probably as far out as PIT.

Anyone hear of any Global Hawks being offered?
I asked for a Global Hawk and was turned down.

They offered me a Predator (airlift background).

That really suprises me they didn't give you a GH. Are they that fat on guys or did they not have a training slot?

He didn't say "training" specifically for the GH, but that's what his answer was to everything else...

I just received an official offer from the Air Force to Return to Active Duty. Base and aircraft what I asked for. Two part letter. Part 1 -- offer letter with base and aircraft assignment and some contact info. It also says "pending revalidation of your aeronautical orders, and medical you have been selected for recall to Extended Active Duty (EAD)under the Retired Rated Officer Recall Program."

Part 2 -- Statement of Intent (SOI) to sign and return within 7 days. The SOI does include the provision of no ACP, no 365-day TDYs however you are a volunteer for all other TDYs, no promotion eligibility and duration of EAD of 36 months upon completion of aircraft training.

It says that further guidance for EAD processing will follow once I send in the SOI.

Originally submitted my App on 17 Mar., 90 days and still counting. However it is nice to have something in writing rather then Word of Mouth.

Thanks, KC-135.... I have been out < 1 year and took my last checkride in Feb 08 so it was a no brainer. Now just waiting on the rest of the paperwork to get cleared so I can establish a good report date.

Congrats! So there's no RNLTD on your SOI, just assignment and base?

Thanks. The SOI is really just a "job offer". It states the squadron and base and all the limiting factors: Aero order approval, Medical approval (my medical has a waiver in it, therefore it is taking a little longer then normal, before I got out it was approved thru 2011). Once you fax back your signed approval of offer/SOI (you have 7 days) and ALL your other paperwork gets cleared they start working your report date. I am estimating Aug or so before I would actually report. I applied under the retired program not sure if the process is different for others. Good Luck to you and others going through this process. It is not fast but I do beleive the folks at recall ops are working the best they can.

Got a call from a friend - he got his SOI today. He submitted his package in mid-March, and about a month ago got a call from the assignments guy with a couple UPT options for him. Final offer was a T-1 to CBM. As previously noted, there's no training or RNLTD on the SOI, so he called before signing just to see what they had planned for him. He's got a Jan PIT date and a report date in Apr (maybe May, I've already forgotten).

Congrats to all. And nice timing on the retirement Voodi...
