His is 1 june 09
Good that they're working to fix the ironic situation of forcing guys out while bringing others back in, but the date you quote is odd. Not doubting you, just the logic of the AF. Retirements officially occur only on the 1st of any given month. I hit 20 years on 27 May, but my retirement date had to be 1 June. So why pick the 8th? Just as some random date that means "not those retiring on June 1st, but July 1st is okay?" So when does the Academy class of '89 hit 20 years - in May or June?

From what I was told when I applied to the program a VA disability rating awarded at retirement does not affect your ability to come back in under the Retired Rated Officer Recall Program. It was explained to me that the VA medical rating system and criteria for medical disability during retirement and the Active Duty Air Force medical system criteria are like apples and oranges. In addition, the two medical entities don't seem to share data very well if at all. Just my opinion based on some limited experience post retirement.
As long as you pass the medical exam to return to Active Duty including a Class II flight physical if you are applying for a flying position then you are good to go.

No VA Disability Info Requested
I have not been asked to submit any VA disability information. As a matter of fact, I was going to submit my lastest hearing exam from the doc downtown that I went to for the VA & he wouldn't even release the info to me. I was told I had to contact the VA & get it from them. Needless to say, I didn't put that in my package, not did the folks at AFPC want anything except military medical info when I called & asked if they wanted copies of my FAA Class I. All that I included was my last 2 flight physicals (PHAs with 1042s), my retirement physical, and required recent labwork.

RRORP Submitted 1 May 09
ALCON,
Update on the RRORP process: I spoke with the O-4 at AFPC in charge of the Retired Rated Officer Recall Program yesterday to check on the status of my application. The first selection board met on 16 April. He told me my package met the board and that all 12 packages were approved. I don't know if the 12 packages were a mix of RRORP and LPRP or just RRORP packages.
He said I should be getting a "conditional offer" in the mail by late this week or early next. I asked why "conditional". He stated that some of the packages (mine included) required some kind of Pentagon Air Staff level approval for those returning to fly versus those going to Staff jobs only. He mentioned some kind of legal process hoops they had to jump through about those who are returning to fly.
So, good news but like always there is the AFPC catch of this conditional offer pending some kind of thumbs up from the Air Staff. The obvious question is why did they have a selection board, my assignment officer made a recommendation, etc, etc, if they don't yet have final approval from the Air Staff to give out these assignments!! Hopeful yet still in a holding pattern................
For those in the process: my complete package including medical was submitted exactly 3 months ago today; so don't hold your breath on the quick turn. Hopefully the process will begin to pick up speed as they work their way through this process. Good luck to all.

The ball is on the roll now! I'll try to post the timeline as it goes.

Well, I just submitted my RRORP package to AFPC via e-mail. It took 4 separate e-mails with PDF attachments. I called them prior to let them know to expect 4 since they preferred only 1, but it wasn't a problem. I also called after they were sent to confirm they arrived and were able to be printed properly. I also sent a copy of my cover letter & resume' to my 'Functional' down at AFPC since he will be the one working the actual assignment once the package is approved. Perhaps he can 'grease the skids' & get a head-start on the flow from his perspective.

To piggyback RAGATO...I sent my package (minus the physical) on 27 Jan 09 for the Limited Recall. I completed the physical on 3 Mar 09, however, it takes 28 days to get through the whole process to be sent to APFC/SG. Once the physical is sent in...then your package starts it's process. While the physical is being reviewed...all your paperwork is checked to make sure your service dates,OPR's, Flight Evals, Flying Summary are correct. The process should be complete around the same time as your physical (around 30 days). Then your complete package is sent to the Reviewer who evaluates where you want to go and then forwards your package to that functional. I received a call from the assignment officer on 28 Apr 09...he asked if Tinker flying E-3's is what I wanted...I said yes...he said, "We can make that happen" The conversation lasted 25 sec...seriously! The assignment paperwork should take around 10 days to arrive, sign and return (14 days to sign) You still have to meet a board to be approved...I haven't heard anything on that, but when I do...I'll post.

Just a heads up. My paperwork was completed in March by AFPC (prem-recall) and sent to AFRC, I've been waiting now for 5 weeks for AFRC to provide my release to Active Duty. It's been at AFRC/A1KK now since 30 March. I was to PSC on Thursday (7th) but without orders, I'm not going anywhere. Expect glitches.

I just received an initial response from AFPC (5 May 09)
"Thank you for your application for Extended Active Duty (EAD). Please allow
time for your application to be processed. At this point your application is
in the initial stages of review. You will be contacted should additional
documentation be required to complete your application.
Thank you for your interest in returning to EAD.
