These AFSC's are for Permanent Rated Officer Recall To Active Duty.

A couple pages back I wrote about the assignments one can get for Limited Rated Officer Recall to Active Duty (24-48 months range).

I didn't want to, nor did I apply to the "limited recall" (and yes, 365s are a real possibility). I was fortunate enough to get the "pernament recall" to the 11R career field.

I couldn't be more stoked!

You giving up your airline job (dc-9 right), or do you have enough mil leave to cover it?

Here's what cracks me up.

First, these AFSCs for the Mobility guys are old. About two years ago they (the incredible AFPC) changed all of our AFSCs. We are now all 11M somethings. So I look at this list and I say, where the hell are the 11Ms? Oh, I get it. We are still using the old 11Ts for tankers and 11As for Air Lift.

Which brings me to my second point. Why the hell did they bother emailing me and sending me a letter, IF, 11Ts or 11Ms aren't even on the freaking list????

Typical big government bureaucracy.

But wait, there's more. The kicker is, when they replied to my package I sent (just for kicks to see what they might offer), instead of just saying WE AREN'T LOOKING FOR YOU, I get the, "Sir, please check out our website for more information". Ok, so after reading the stupid Ask AFPC crap, I find this table (for the first time) and realize I've been wasting my time all along.

AFPC, if you are reading this, you have affirmed every reason why I left active duty in the first place. THANK YOU!!!

I'll start and re-evaluate 4 years down the road. There are far too many scenarios to consider. Plus the job is too cool to turn down!

The APC world wants to know--what did you get and how did the whole process work for the actual assignments.

I have been in contact with AFPC and they have confirmed that the limited recall guys will be opted for deployment, but NOT 365 day TDYs. This pretty much seals it for me, throwing my hat in the ring as well! I just hope they offer something good...

Mudhen,

I got a different story from AFPC. They told me only the retiree recall guys could not get 365s....non-retiree recall dudes can get 365s.

Apparently you must be on station for 1 year prior to a 365 and must have 7 months retainability after....so there is a window.

Are 365 day deployments PCS's? ANd if you sign up for limited rated recall are you subject to PCS, or are you signing up to stay at same location?

4 years puts me into sanctuary at 18.5 years active so I am also wondering what happens to me then.

AFPC says I can stay til 20 but I am wondering if I am a slave to any bad deal at that point, ie 3 years to greenland or similar.

Were you are prior U2 driver going back to the U2 or are you a different 11R that was allowed to recall?
