The artist's guess has it wrong, but the scene pics support that is on the same side as the stock 60.

The pointy piece at the top is the very tail end on the tailboom. If it were still attached, you'd be looking at the left side of the aircraft.

I'd really like to see a little bird which could carry 25 frogs (and one room-temperature tango) from Islamabad to a location where you could operate a US CVN. So where is refueling probe on that thing?

Gross SA failure on your part.

I thought this might be the case too, but I've read in one place, and heard from another, that the return trip was not direct CVN-70, but rather back into Afghanistan, and then onto the ship.

This is really interesting... when i saw this link on yahoo

Could the bin Laden Raid Have Revealed a Secret New Helicopter? - Yahoo! News

i immediately clicked on this website because i knew for sure that it would be a topic being talked about on this forum and sure enough it was.

So no one has any idea what kind of a chopper it was??

Default Commanche?

It reminds me of the Army's prototype of the Commanche. It had a similar rotor, I believe. I'm sure we'll get bits and pieces down the line.

Default comanche

I thought the same thing too about the comanche but if i'm not mistaking, the comanche was a 2 seater right? And reports have said that a number of navy seals were flown in the destroyed chopper so...

There's quite a few military guys on here and i'm just a little taken aback that its still hard to say what it was

Commanche had an enclosed rotor.
