From a 'you'll die if you're too old to execute a single engine missed approach near terrain because you're slow and incompetent' standpoint, it's exactly the same. Again, this was shown to be the case during the Exxon trial(s).

Mama,Mamacita, why so angry ? In truth some do fit that description, and should be gently be led out to pasture, but I've flown with some sharp old dudes too, we shall see how this all shakes out, I'm thinking 70 may be the limit , but we shall surely see.

Nacho, you are really a piece of work. What about the marginal younger guys (and don't tell me there aren't any)? You are a one trick pony. And the term marginal is overly kind in some cases.

Any variation of those three variables changes the math enough to where it's not so cut and dry....

Not trying to talk anyone into anything, and there are certainly many factors involved in making a personal decision, but the above is completely false. A maxed out small cabin NJA Captain in their early fifties will make considerably more over their career moving to SWA even if they never upgrade. I think there is a lot of confusion about how we're paid. Yes, you have to work it, but the opportunity to make a lot of money for those who do is really there.

I heard this was in the works a while ago. Literally the only advantage to NJA for me was the ability to work past 65 (too young to retire in my opinion). Now, If this comes to pass, there are none.

You're taking this personally...this hurts your pride, I get it. No one likes to be told that they're no longer needed or no longer able to pull their weight any longer, so they have to leave.

I don't care. You're not good at this anymore. You're incompetent, dangerous, and no longer needed. You're not pulling your weight any more. Get out. Go crawl into a retirement home and watch Matlock with the other gummers - and take your hurt feelings and ****y attitude with you. You will not be missed.

Can you show some math? I've run my numbers and found it wouldn't be worth it for a NJA PIC to move to SWA after the age of the mid 40s. I tried to compare apples-to-apples.

I even assumed a SWA upgrade after 10 years (55 year old in this case).

I'm interested in seeing how you arrived at that conclusion.

I've crunched the numbers several different ways and can't get anywhere close to what you're suggesting.

I used to live in Dallas and have a large number of friends at SW who provided a sizeable amount of earnings data for me.

I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the way things work over there, but if you can show me some alternate math, I'm all ears.
