Newer, less "brittle" airplanes will mean the company needs FEWER airplanes to cover the demand. The ONLY way the company grows is if a pantload of newly minted multi-gozillionaires start beating down the doors of the sales office and we know that is a pipe dream. Meanwhile, we also all know an owner or two that is LEAVING in favor of buying their own airplane. That certainly doesn't add up to fleet GROWTH.
Total body count will also continue to drop, as predicted, because of the CC72/76 and reduced training float as the fleets are rationalized.
Throw in the FAA, the company, and the union all being too stupid or weak-willed to enforce SOME KIND of mandatory retirement age and it is a recipe for 15-20 year FOs for the next decade. No way I would recommend NJ as a place to work for an under-40 pilot.

Not even remotely close to real life at Spirit, or at any other ULCC, LCC, Major or Legacy carried out there.
Lifesuck at the regionals does not in any way shape or form correlate at all with pretty much ANY of the "real" 121 carriers.

17 days off, 2 day trips.. international when I choose.. Only airport food I buy is either Sushi or Prime Rib sandwiches. One leg a day, off the plane 30 seconds after the parking check.
Oh the misery

Really? I was working for an Lcc during the nj furlough and came running back at the first recall notice due to crappy qol and schedules. That wasn't 15 years ago and it wasn't a commuter so.......

I respect anyone's choice stay/or go, I don't respect Buckeyes frothing at the mouth, the troll is strong in this one. I'm a freight dog at heart, I love that life, if I ever return to 121 that will be my path, If I ever leave I will have fond memories of this place, I think some posters on these forums can use a wee bit of anger management therapy : )

I'm at Southwest, not freight. Even w/o profit sharing I'll make more in year 2 than I would on the 7/7 at any year as an NJA FO. Thanks for dumping over 40k pay and capping the pay scale below captains. Just got done filing my 2016 taxes from NJA, even on year 2 (10 months of the year) it was just 54k bc of my 401k contribution.
You want to find a troll, look at Pedro, the negotiating committee, and everyone in the left seat who shoved that POSTA down the throats of all the FOs.

Low,
It really doesn't matter to me what you believe. I could never keep up with that.
For those thinking about leaving, for the same number of days worked, factoring retirement, you will be within spitting distance of max small cabin pay in your second year. Under this contract that pay will increase by 70 percent, as an FO. With the availability of premium in actuality a lot more.
Not trying to dis NJA. Just facts. Good luck on whatever you decide.
This is too much like the NJASAP board. Hasta luego amigos.
