No formula- everyone has their own individual needs. The FDP pay that goes into the 401K (33% of the FDP pay) and all the company match on whatever you contribute goes in as traditional before tax. I would guess that it is more beneficial for younger pilots to go more Roth, especially when they aren't making all that much money yet. Most of the super senior pilots I fly with go all traditional to get the tax break now on their 300+K earnings. It really depends on your own situation. Some new pilots may have spouses making a lot and they may be better served by taking the tax break now with all traditional. I would suggest trusting a financial professional over anything any of us pilots say is a good financial choice.

How long after the in-person interview does it take for them to let you know if you got the job or not?

Also, what is the general time frame between in-person interview and class date?

No announcements about that so far. There is a new hire class that started in the last week or so and it is still going. I think they are trying to get a better understanding of demand before they make any tough choices for hiring. So far demand hasn't fallen off a cliff.

Just got an official company update that says they are still planning on running the next new hire class next month. Hopefully they do what they say they will do.
