Sounds like they have an agreement or the company has a policy that says there has tot be a certain ca/fo ratio. Something I thought I saw once of 60/40 or vise versa. Probably to keep from getting ca top heavy and costing the company a fortune.

We are way over the 60/40 CA/FO ratio. Except in the Phenom. They don't want to upgrade because we have too many captains overall. So, they continue to displace captains from larger fleets that are in disposal, but many of these captains can't fit in the Phenom, and so they get displaced to other airplanes. The ones that do fit only stay long enough to bid back out into the next open airplane. This incurs the cost of two type ratings for the company. If the company wasn't so short sighted in their cost savings, they would realize that it would be cheaper in the long run to run a few upgrade classes for the Phenom and let the displaced captains sit at home until the next airplane is available.

When you say "can't fit" are we talking to wide or to long? To me I would think if it were the first it might be "not being able to perform assigned duties". I remember at the regional i was at there was a guy so big he could not fit out the flight deck emer door. Thank goodness for unions eh?
Too long. NJA, in their infinite wisdom, took an already tight cockpit and took a few inches out of it so that they could fit a Keurig in it.
