I seem to recall either a NetJets press release or comments by CEO regarding "our new relationship with Bombardier regarding large cabin jets" or similar type remarks. Not exact but along those lines

CL350s. 75 firm orders, options for 125
CL605s. 25 firm orders, options for 50

$5.4 billion worth of firm orders, Plus whatever the options add up to..

I'd love to see netjets get some G-650s, but...........

 

Next prediction: NJ will CANCEL the CL-605 order. The salesmen can't sell it.

As for NJI guys being in denial: Most of us aren't. We are fully aware this is the new paradigm. It's just that the new paradigm sucks.

 

I don't want to steal this thread, but don't want to start a new one for it. Why does Netjet use their callsign on certain flights and tail number on others? Is it occupied/repo?

 

N # for Gulfstreams.
N# for international trips on all other fleets.

Short history lesson:

The Gulfstreams were originally operated by Executive Jet International/NetJets International/NJI, Inc.

At one time, the division attempted to operate the fleet under an LOA with the FAA for the call sign "NetJets" while the smaller fleets operated by NJA used the call sign "ExecJet."

Because neither call sign is recognized by ATC outside North America, both entities used the "N" number for international operations.

Because of the high number of international operations being conducted by the Gulfstreams, NJI management felt the constant switching between the "NetJets" call sign and the "N" number was too cumbersome. Therefore, the Gulfstream fleet switched to just using the "N" number.

Since integration of NJI and NJA was completed in 2010, management has apparently decided not to rock that particular boat and the Gulfstreams continue to use "N" numbers. To be honest, I'm not sure which protocol the new Globals are using domestically.

Clear as mud?

 

Why are they not recognized? I used to fly for some two bit charter operator and our call sign was good OCONUS.

NJA was at one time the largerst aircraft operator (IIRC) prior to the NW/Delta merger. Why woudn't they be able to get the call sign recoginzed?

BTW, I was there for two years and couldn't get an answer to that question. Or why we still used Rudy's. Lol.

 

Recalls gotta be coming sooner than later. I work for a chsrter company in western PA and we've been doing about 4-8 brokered NJ trips a week. Any idea if this is a shortage on plane problem or shortage of crew problem fellow NJ guys?

 

Talked to a Netjets CA today. He said things are about to pop. With the new jets all the furloughees will be recalled soon and hiring should start. However, Section 6 negotiations could slow that up a bit.

He said they're working their butts off and need pilots.
