Even with the hundreds of geriatric pilots on the list at NJA? Aren't those guys going to retire or die some day? I do understand the captain displacement situation. But I gotta believe that not all these guys want to work till they're 75......

Yes, they will. Will it be enough before you retire or die is the question.

Correct. With a current average age of 50, that means that in 25 years the average age here will be 75, with few to no actual upgrades having taken place (keep in mind that the fleet plan is to shrink overall). So will there be upgrades someday? Probably.

Within the entire career duration of a new hire? (Presently at ANY age)...no.

Upgrade is tough to determine. If you look at it as a pure numbers game you can only get an estimate.

My seniority coming up on 9 years and well over 550 away. ( not from the most senior non GV captain). With no growth plan and attrition at say 2%... That's roughly 10 more years minimum..for a total of 19 years. Sure there may be several dozen bypasses which may allow someone to sneak in ahead of their time. What if attrition is 1%'or less? Do the math.

A new hire will may see a bit shorter times because of the 4 yr gap in hiring

Will do. Right now I'm hoping that no news is good news.

I agree for the most part, but according to the 'profiles' section on APC, the last CAPT upgrade was 2006, so that is something important to consider depending on ones personal goals...

True, but there were only four or five of them and they were contractually mandated. There are 24 contractually mandated upgrades spread evenly over the next five years. The upgrades people want to know about here are based on growth.

You and I both know that we can't have more food until we clear our current plate.

It'll happen. Sales are strong and everything we take from OEMs is sold out. FACT.

If you know of a way to increase production of frames, please do share!

Our ebb and flow is independent of airline hiring and upgrades. That comes with pros and cons.
