Until anyone can tell me with any actual degree of certainty what will happen tomorrow/next week/next month/next year, it's nothing more than a guessing game.
I understand being an FO for 10 years sucks. 8 years,2 regionals, 3 furloughs and 0 upgrades for me. And what's really funny is everyone I knew was clamoring for me to go where I did because the upgrade was less than a year. Well, that obviously didn't work out.
Some may be right, and the upgrades could take 30 years. I personally don't think so, but that's my call to make. I've got a lot of empathy for the 495 here as I've eaten from that end of the trough myself. But I'm tired of having people tell me what I should be doing, expecting me to eat from their hand when I counter and am told that I'm 100% wrong.
If you want to go 121, I wish every last one of you nothing but the best. I've been there, done that. Commuting to reserve is borderline inhumane and I've had my fill. Going to LGA, ORD, ATL or DFW every other leg isn't my cup of tea either. Bottom line, those of us that are happy and content being at NJA respect anyone's decision to leave. All I'm looking for is those that want to bail extending the same courtesy.

Doesn't hurt to network during your next min-rest MEM layover.

I hear 10 pilots on probation at FedEx have already been awarded 757 Capt slots out of MEM. People should check out Fedex if you want some fast upgrades and BIG TIME MONEY if you don't mind vampire hours.

True. NetJets probably is better qol than some/many/most (?) 121 feeders. However any NetJets FO under the age of 40-45 who has a crack at a Delta, or Southwest and doesn't try seriously needs to reevaluate. The hiring floodgates are opening wide with SWA dropping the type rating requirement and Delta running out of military pilots.
Obviously there will be cases where only NetJets is a good match, but for the vast majority...a young FO needs to move along. No future here and overall QOL is so much better at the majors.
Don't believe me? Just ask all those guys who left the majors to come here. Oh, yeah.......except for retired guys, there aren't any.

121 Commuter bears very little resemblance to 121 Major. You haven't done 121 major. I have.

Other than pay and long call reserve, what's the big difference between the two? It's not as if I don't have friends in the industry to talk about such things with. I've done my homework and I've made my bed. Why aren't you at the majors?

Guys like him would rather whine and whinge , if you are miserable, move on, it's the best hiring environment in a generation, if you are retired airline and on the property and still want to whine about how great 121 was, oh well, at that point : ), I'm 121 alumni ,loved it, but I groove on this too, it is all good. : ) cheers out. Seriously though,do not make life decisions based on these boards.

I timed out.
When I ended up I was flying 2 on, 5 off turn arounds....home every night making three times what a senior NetJets guy makes. No plane cleaning, no standby, no tentative, no chit. Lifetime airline passes.
NetJets is a great gig for folk like me, but for a first officer on the front side of his career? There's nothing to look forward to except plane cleaning, standby, tenative and owner tips. The view just never changes.
If you love the life...great. But if you somehow think the QOL even comes close, I'm mystified.
