Except you are guessing, flat out guessing. There is a chance you are right, there is a chance you are wrong. Either way I am not planning on sticking around to find out.

Some info for those interested. Currently there are 25 people in the hiring pool, supposedly calls have gone out to some only to find out they have taken other jobs. The hiring window is going to open for 2 weeks coming up, in hopes of having a June class. Supposedly there was going to be an April class but there isn't enough that can fit into the Phenom to make a class. There will be a class for Sovereign and XL (I think) later on.

One buddy still at NJA says that they'll be down 17 airframes by the end of the year. Is that correct?

Jetlife, I'm a 10-11 yr FO and 300 numbers from upgrade. Realistically, that will be 5 more years in the right seat. What bids are you talking about?

FO to FO? Nothing else is happening.

Guys, I was hired in July of '06 and I'm looking at a 15-17 yr upgrade. People hired behind me will have that hill to climb, then some.

Get your PIC time and look for a better job... If you want career advancement.

We have had first officers with 11 years seniority get awarded CA slots recently. There are 24 CA slots open right now.

This is exactly my point though, there is no metric to measure upgrade times.

Ah, I see. Those 24 Captain slots I think your talking about are to be distributed over the next 4 years per the new contract. I believe 4 will be used this year. That's for Captain upgrades this year.

Unfortunately, those 4 Captain bids will go to previous Captains who had bid down to SIC for the large cabin fleet. Since there is no difference pay for FOs they are bidding back up to Captain.

I understand your point about not foreseeing the future, however based on historical attrition, the current fleet plan, and the company's desire for a 60/40 PIC/SIC ratio (which we haven't attained yet as we are "heavy" on SICs), it appears to me that 10-11 yr FOs are still looking at 5 yrs to upgrade. Then, the downgrade language may kick in if the company hasn't reached its optimal staffing level.

Those hired behind us will be FOs as long or longer... Unless a plan for growth is announced. And the company doesn't appear eager to grow.

As this is near and dear to my heart, you can imagine my depth of understanding on upgrades. I hope I'm wrong, but I am pretty certain of my numbers. The status quo would have to dramatically change for it to be different.

Sorry for the long post, and even more sorry that upgrades will be 10-15 yrs.

Last I heard, there is a class, albeit small, next month. Not sure while fleet(s).
