Is it true that Silver Airways C.P., has been hitting soft balls for the pink team out of Ft. Lauderdale? I've seen those guys playing pretty frequently down on the docks near the cruise port after dark. Oh well....... good luck.

I'm taking a temporary break trying to switch branches from the Army to the AF, just waiting on my discharge paperwork from my old unit- MOS of 11B and 15T

Does that have any bearing on the work conditions at Silver? He's not the first, and he won't be the last. We're EVERYWHERE.

An Air Force guy asking an ex ARMY guy why did he switch to the Air Force is like someone asking if GoJet is really that bad, just saying

I disagree. There is a complete lack of respect here. They don't abide by the contract, and don't do simple things that are expect of an employer.

For example everyone in my class had issues getting enrolled in healthcare. You are required to turn your paperwork in 30 days before your eligible, but they waited until the day before we were supposed to be enrolled to turn it in to cigna, and then they screwed it up. The HR lady stood in our class and told us the company would contribute $1000 to the HSA plan, she said it several times. When I did finally get enrolled I only got a fraction of that. I emailed her about it and she said "oh, its prorated, sorry if I wasn't clear about that" (she wasn't not clear, she intentionally sandbagged us into that plan because its cheaper for the company.) I'm STILL not enrolled in my 401k, even though I've put in weekly calls to the provider as well as HR.

Scheduling doesn't honor seniority for reserve call outs. If you call scheduling you're lucky if they answer on the 2nd try. Once they do answer expect them to talk over you and say "let me call you back" just to get you off the line. If you call someone at HQ don't expect them to answer. If you leave a message don't expect them to call you back.

Don't expect them to honor seniority when they assign bases AFTER your training is done, they'll stick you where they've got a spot and where is convenient. Even if someone junior to you ends up getting the spot you wanted.

I have worked at 2 other regionals. If you are coming here as a street captain there is maybe some excuse to put up with this kind of stuff. But with everyone being at the same minimum requirements these days... if you're going in as an FO do yourself a favor and go to the Skywest/Horizon/Air Wisconsins of the world. Not only will you get treated with more respect but the time you earn will be more beneficial to your resume.

Don't expect to be based in Florida as a new hire.

Yeah, 11 Bang Bang pretty much says it all. I did 2 tours in the infantry.. made the switch to 15T- UH-60 Blackhawk Repairer... that's a fun job, but I don't like how the army treats people. Not complaining but this is why I WANT a change from the Army to particularly the AF- The infantry, without ranger or SF, doesn't really give you any skills you can use outside of law enforcement, nor do they even WANT anyone with infantry/combat experience in FL.

I went through reclass training for 15T. After 2 tours and being an NCO.. the other prior-service guys got treated like absolute crap by the permanent party instructors. The new AF enlistees were treated a lot better than us and even had better housing. Their professionalism impressed.. so that's why. But that's neither here nor there....

Thanks for the info on Silver guys. Does a lot have to do with being a "new" airline with your typical growing pains or do they still have the same people from Gulfstream?

Another Tango I remember those days at ft useless when I went through. There's still remnants of gulfstream when it comes to staff and employees. Like mentioned before it has it's issues, which I know can inpatient most peeps, I'm just used to the hurry up and wait mentality so just take it with a grain of salt. There are still many good people here, especially in the pilot group. Expect most likely basing up north seems like Florida is filling up for FOs.

It's got it's issues but the flying is fun And has its challenges as well. Just realize the fun always has a dark side to it. But if you're patient and have the attitude to overcome and adapt the. You will be alright.
