We've already had a DEC fly as an SIC for several months. Did IOE from the right seat, flew from the right seat, made captain pay.

But at what risk... a failed checkride?
Learning a Seminole for the pure purpose of "checking a box" with the new rule is absurd. You're making a jeopordy event that much harder.
It is only fair to allow the FOs to take an ATP/Type ride on the equipment they are currently qualified to operate.

Ya I know the guy but I thought it was because he chose to be in the right seat until he felt comfortable making the switch to the left seat? Former Q guy right?

Are any of you guys going to be DECs, or is that rumor I'm hearing?
Learn the Systems of the Seminole, forget the B1900 or SF340 in the meantime, get the ATP, go back to Silver to relearn the Beech or Saab systems, and possibly into the sim to take what perhaps could be a proficiency check? Seems like we will have to go back to the sim anyways.
I hope the rumor of using ATP is just someone trying to be funny.

Learning the systems on the seminole, they will likely ask you some very simple facts that will already be gathered for you in a little pamphlet. Guys don't worry about this, if you are not ready for the checkride you don't. But we all know the company will either get this done overnight or dry to the FAA since they haven't made the final ruling yet and we are 2 months away.
There is plenty to worry about. Especially if we have pilots that are going to hit ATP mins in mid to late July. If they were doing their ATP ride in the Saab/1900, then they have had plenty of time (and still do) to study and the study time is beneficial rather than a cram and dump.
Besides, how many other airlines are sending FOs out to fly a Seminole to get their ATP?

2 1/2 month from the deadline and you have to fully disconnect yourself from the 121 world, learn a new airplane, procedures, flight dynamics, checklist structures, etc... and there is nothing to worry about.

They were short on FOs and fat on CAs when he finished sim. They offered for him to wait for CA ioe or do FO ioe right away and be tdy with CA pay for a few months until they could get him back to the left seat.
