People coming in fresh off of instructing. Absolutely.
Leaving one regional for another... Trading a couple dollars and getting a four year upgrade... With bout two years on reserve... Starting seniority over...
For those going to corporate or majors... Bravo.
Those going to ANYTHING else... You'll be complaining on your respective forums in a few months. Serious answer.
Oh and calling fellows pilots rejects and taking it to that level?
Way to keep it klassy... Yep, your klassy with a K.

But if the stability and commutability of centralized basing is important to you, it may be a reason to switch. As employees flow in and out of the system (including maintenance) like a revolving door and safety becomes a concern, it may be a reason to switch. As airline hiring ramps up and flow throughs become common again, it may be a reason to switch. If jet turbine time is important to you, it may be a reason to switch. If you are looking to make a move to a different coast in the future (or back to a coast), it may be a reason to switch. If you are an FO with only months on the job without any real seniority anyway, it may be a reason to switch.

It's not as simple as that. Will there be issues at a new company, sure. Some things probably won't change.

Its the delusions of grandeur that boggle my mind...

Again, you have not answered the many people who have asked you what your own background is. How long have you been flying? How many flying jobs besides instructing have you held? How long have you been on the line at Silver?

Im actually considering Silver, because its a flying job. Until the next one comes up. But so far in what I'm seeing, its not worthwhile for a commuter. It would be more hassle than it could be worth, even living in base. Is APC's assessment accurate? Or is there something else?

If you want to live in Mississippi or some outstation in the NE do it. If you can afford to live on a monthly take home of $2k average go for it. Keep in mind on a good day you might have 2 flights in or out of your base to commute but if you work the night shift and get in around 930 on a Friday your only chance out is like a 5ish AM flight and hopefully it's not cancelled. If you miss it cause you're exhausted then you get to wait until Sunday at noon to leave. Of course at that point you'll probably be back working on Tuesday or Wednesday (it seems now you get 1 stretch of many days off rest of the time it's a piddly 1-2) so is it worth even going home? Ok but you still wana go now you finally get to ATL and you have a tight connection to your home city... You look at the watch 35min to go you think I can do this might have to skip that coffee though. You hear the captain "Welcome to Atlanta with another on time arrival by Silver...
" You think o crap this is guna take forever you see 33min on your watch no stress I just bought this sweet Luggage Works bag with the rollerblade wheels this thing is smooth I can power walk all the way from E concourse to C and still make it no problem. You look out the window no bus what the heck why didn't they call for that blasted bus (remember we don't park our planes at gates like the "big leagues" we have remote parking and a bus takes you to and from the gate),very rarely does it work smoothly usually it's while you're on duty not the days when you commute. Watch says 32min o boy this is getting close they're finally unloading gate checks and you see the bus coming. Watch says 31 min you think to yourself I got this! Every one is on the bus it's starting to pull away then a moment of shear terror hits you....!!!! No I know I didn't just hear that not guna happen they won't do it today but wait you hear it again yup it's the sound of a Saab on Dixie in beta and you all know what that means. Yup! Son of a Jack Rabbit TUP just landed and with their 3 pax we are now turning the corner again and waiting for the plane to park and deplane. Watch says its over bud don't worry there is another flight in like 2-3 hours and hey now you can get that coffee you wanted and look on the upside instead of taking the cramped plane train you can get that much needed exercise and walk! Plus Bobby Jimmy and Billy are inside at our sweet crewroom and you can talk to them about how awful the Packers are and that the Bears are the most amazing football team ever! You'll get home some time around 1-2 with still plenty of time to do some serious day drinking.
And that "my friends" is a typical day of commuting from MS mixed in with some inside humor but you get the point. So if you want to come on board do it you'll have a fun time with our fellow coworkers that's for sure, but don't come here for anything but the hours and people.

I really don't like to post on here as you can see by my post count, but I can't help it this time. I think we all can figure out who propspilot is. As for Silver Airways, I've been very thankful for my time here. What a wonderful hard working group of people in the air and on the ramps. True professionals work here and one day, I hope, the pay will reflect that. As for the future of this place, I really want to believe there will always be a company around so all the people here will continue to have a paycheck. I have no delusions of grandeur just want a base near home. That's all.
