why are you posting about someone's failures on a public forum? All you're accomplishing is discouraging people that may be coming or are already here in class (even if thats not your intent). It's no one's business. He/she has their reasons. Worry about you and your IOE.

Having followed this thread for a time, a few comments from a neutral outsider:

First off, I would never post updates on how my training is going in such lurid detail as I'm seeing on this thread. I'd have no problem giving an overview of how the training process works after the fact, but if I were in the Gulfstream/Silver training department, I'd probably crack up reading people giving play-by-play updates on their class. Not to mention, it's easy to figure out who people are on here; I'm sure your training department knows your identities, even if they don't really care as nothing written has been negative/controversial. That's fine. I'm just over-cautious or paranoid, I guess. Also, I noticed that the guys/gals that post constant statuses seem more pressured than those who don't. Which leads into the next part.

Second, someone failed. It's not about 'discouraging' people, as sandrich said. To fly for a 121 carrier, you must meet certain performance standards and levels of aeronautical knowledge. Unfortunately, the individual in question evidently did not. It's sad; I've seen friends fail, and it's hard to watch. The failure is between the individual and the company, and the rest of the class shouldn't take it personally. Just be prepared and be responsible for you. When 25% of your class fails out (as happened at one of my previous employers), you become a bit more reserved.

Again, I wish all of you the best of luck with your training. It's fun to read all about those of you who are excited, motivated, and want to succeed. I just feel that a healthy dose of sparsely applied cynicism can greatly enhance one's job security. ;)

There is no identity posted on these failures. So what - someone failed.
Discouraging people from going there? Knowing that it isn't a cake walk and that people do in fact fail might verywell SAVE someone's career too if they decide that they might not be ready for P121 training, not apply for or get a job that they may not feel ready for, and not end up failing a formalized training course and having it follow them around for the rest of thier careers.

LostInPA - If I were to guess that you aren't a young 20's something (or even up into your 30's) would I be close? ;)
I ask this because it seems that a certain generation that LOVES social media can't help themselves from posting that they are 'bored standing in line at the movies' or the 'their cat's struggle with its' last hairball' on Facebook :D

I posted about my success only as a means to encourage those. Coming from the negative background I had I hope that someone can overcome whatever difficulty they may have had and come here. As to the new hires in class you guys will be just fine. You have all the info you need to pass these tests right in front of you. I worried my butt off too and when I look back I wonder why? If I spent half as much time worrying as I did studying it would have been that much easier.

Sandrich, if you want to come speak to me in person then do so, you know how to find me. I did not go blasting his/her name or how they failed out. It is sad to see anyone go and I was correcting the statement about having lost only 3 people so far. People came here thinking it was a cake walk and that isnt the case. You're not past systems yet, and you feel the urge to chime about unimportant things. Good grief.

The scary part is that I am in fact in the middle of the age range you mention.....:D

Then again, I swear learning a new airplane is in fact easier than updating my Facebook profile every time they change the format!

Not taking sides here, just gonna chime in and share about sandrich. He is kind of an allstar in the January class. He has a memory like a sponge, can explain concepts better than some instructors(not better than THE instructor. I think she rocks! but still has helped many in this class) after only heearing or reading it once, and has stick and rudder skills that would impress just about anyone. We should all be so lucky to have people like this in the seat next to us. Cant we all just get along?

p.s. to sandrich "whoa.... you gotta be REAL GOOD with......." ya u just lol'ed
