Ok this is more of a life style question about Island life. I have a job offer for a pt. 135 jet operator out of St. Thomas. I have heard everyone say how much more expensive it is to live in the Islands. My salary would be in the mid 60s range. Would it be a hard to live comfortably on that? I have been looking for 2 bedroom places in the 1000 to 1500 dollar range which doesn't scare me all that bad. On the plus side we would be doing frequent trips to the Florida, and flying an empty plane back, so I think I could do a large deal of my shopping there. Also if any one lives locally there PM me I'm gonna need some new drinking buddies!

How is it for you? Do you usually have to commute the day before or the same day? At what time do most trips begin? What time do they end?

JetBlue also has a daily PBI-SJU flight which will maybe make it easier for you if based in SJU.

I wouldn't suggest PBI-SJU when it's only 1 flight. The commute isn't bad. JetBlue has been having some issues lately with the 117 rules which adds to my stress level. 95% of the time, I have no problem getting down there. The flights are flexible and I try to take the first flight out (either 6am or 8am) to give me options in case TSA wants to be sh*theads or the flight is full. FLL has about 10-12 flights a day going down there between Southwest, Spirit, JetBlue.
