Has anybody heard how the union talks went? Is it going to go up for a vote? I was told that if we did unionize that DS would close the doors, but I don't think he legally could with all the EAS contracts that we are obligated to fill.

I just heard from a bunch of the folks in the PDX base that they are tired of empty promises and possibly broken homes from the lack of a commuter schedule that was promised and lack of delivery. Supposedly 5 to 6 days on and one day off next month. It's very apparent that MGT doesn't give a crap about anything about people they employ and everything about the bottom dollar. They are chasing the low hanging fruit from these gov't contracts and profiting from them to subsidize the broken 2000 program in AK. Time to get a union organized so a poor commuter can get more than 4 days at home a month with her husband or wife!

The Portland base is very unhappy right now. Our Per Diem is going away, and the schedules are getting terrible. Tons of 4am shows. The good news for the commuters is they are getting hotel rooms. But who knows how long that will last. Our lead is absolutely overbearing, and nobody enjoys working with him. Multiple people have said they will go to another base so they dont have to do a line check with him.
They even built some illegal lines for next month with four 4am shows in and row, and rest periods of less than ten hours. When I emailed them I was told they would fix it when the final bids were awarded. Why even build them that way?
Not to mention getting less than ten days off per month is exhausting.

It does feel like too little too late but for the guys that have been here 10plus years a union might be the only way to save the company from management. Supposedly there was a meeting with the teamsters, but it's been pretty tight lipped. I'm sure it will pass if it goes up for a vote.

The promised land of 4/3 haven't been around in years unless in the slowest month's, vacation almost impossible to use unless your sleeping with the scheduler and god forbid you did that unless you used protection and still might end up with a cold sore!

Yeah i agree it's become unsustainable. I think we've all been taking it on the chin for the last few years in hopes that the company will power out of the rut but I think we are stuck up to the axles and it's time for a different tactic or most of us will probably git while the gittins good. And right now it seems pretty good.
