I cannot seem to find much info on IBC other than their web page.

Does anyone know aprrox. what they pay and how much flying you could expect and the upgrade times?

Thanks

I got hired at IBC last month, just finished training. Heres what I know so far.

They will hire anyone with a commercial multi and instrument, no time minimum. Good luck getting a call back though unless you have inside connections. The stack of resumes in the office is about 3 inches thick, no joke.

Pay is 18,500 a year, salaried+per diem. Most FO's are averaging 20-21k a year.

If you get hired as a Saab 340 FO expect to pay 7,500$ and sign a 2 year training contract. Indoc and Systems is done in Miami, Sim is done in 1 week in MSP.

If you get hired as a Metro FO, then you dont have to pay anything or sign any contract. All of the metro training is done in the aircraft in Miami.

Theres no bidding, as an FO you are reserve 5 nights a week, Sat and Sun off. Expect to actually fly 3-4 times a week. You can volunteer to reserve on weekends if you want to make extra money, havent done that yet so im not sure how that works.

Thus far I love the job, flying the carribean is great. Home every night as well. If you get on one of the charter flights then you may have to overnight as required, but I havent been put on one yet so im not sure how it works.

Typically youll fly somewhere in the morning, sit there for a few hours then fly back. Im usually up at 6am and home around 8-9pm.

Don't expect them to call even with an internal recommendation. HR said numerous times that the guy that does the hiring would call me or email me and it never happened...

I met the guy that do the hiring and I considered joining IBC few months ago but after that guy just ignored all calls and e-mails I decided that IBC is not the place for me..... Looking back, it was not such a bad idea not to go to IBC.
Yeap, don't expect them to call you. Drop by their offices or hangar if you want to spend the money and commit for the offered contract. . .
Good luck

Could you name any other places for a low time pilot to go and build turbine time? Didnt think so...

As far as QOL, I have Saturday and Sunday off every week. Its a salaried position so if you dont fly you only lose about 15 bucks in per diem. Sure the days are long, but what other job could you take your snorkling gear with you and go snorkling in Montego Bay while you wait for departure time? AND be getting paid for it. I dont know about you but I havent heard of any pilot jobs that allow you do that.

I havent heard of a single FO flying less than 3 days in one week. Usually its 4 days, sometimes 5.

Mark is a great guy, you just gotta keep calling him. Dont wait for him to call you. Like I said he has stacks of resumes, all of them willing to pay for their training and sign the contract, you need to do something that makes him want to hire you over the other people. Show up at the hanger, hes usually there at around 8am.

Simply sending in your resume or just calling HR and waiting for a call back isnt enough.

So you don't take the type and run off. I believe they reimburse the initial training costs over time.

So I looked on their website and it says where to send your resume, and it also says no calls. Who is this Mark person that was mentioned above and how would one go about making phone calls in his general direction if one decided to not pay attention to the "no calls" comment in the hiring page?

So you're rationalizing taking someone elses job because you can go snorkling. The two worst things you can do in this industry is 1. Be a scab and 2. Pay to fly. If you don't have the experience to get a paying job flying a turbine aircraft then go flight instruct, instead of doing anything to get in a turbine aircraft. Heres a question for you do you think you are more deserving of a turbine job than all the furloughes out there who have thousands more hours than you do? If you say no, then don't defend what you're doing. If you say yes, don't ever so up at an interview and tell everyone you paid to fly.
