When I was at AMF there were no per diem any time I was away from my base, if it's different today much better for everybody.
I'm just afraid you are confusing TDY with per diem.

As far as turbine PIC time, good to have but not a requirement for
AA, UNITED and Delta today.
It's a requirement at SW together with a 737 type rating by the time that you start class, and of course you won't have it at AMF.

 

I don't know if he wanted that base or not, the fact is that he was the most junior be99 pilot and he was on reserve.
So the fact that the junior pilots got the line and seniors are on reserve was not the case at AMF when I was there and it's not the case in a part 121 operator as well.

 

AMF doesn't pay per diem. You are given TDY pay if you are gone from base more than a certain amount. The second I start my duty no matter where I'm at, I get per diem. That TDY is lower than industry standard by a long shot, so I don't see how the company is "taking care" of you. Pilots work almost max hour duty days every single day with no per diem.

Maybe you wouldn't consider it "per diem" in the traditional sense but on the expense reports it says "per diem". If your talking about the TDY pay of $35 a day then that's what I mean when I say per diem. TDY also pays 8 units every day your away on assignment according to the employee handbook. I've been to many of the bases and have seen where some of the schedules were good and bad. At the base I'm currently at, show time in the morning isn't until 9:25am and you finish around 7:45pm which isn't bad. It's really about trying to get the run and schedule that works for you personally. I'm making more money than I've ever made in my life. That being said this is only my 2nd professional "pilot" job. Even with the long duty days, most of the time your not working all day. Just a couple hours in the morning and evening which I use to finish school. You have a fair amount of time on your hands no matter how you cut it really.

 

Agreed, this is going nowhere fast. AMF isn't for everyone.
