Ameriflight

That might not be the case today, since AAY is working on their first contract, management is ****ed, and usually things get very dark before the dawn in this situation (just ask anyone that's been through the Spirit strike). But if the pilot group succeeds and the contract turns AAY into a decent place to be again, this agreement might actually be an alternative way for a low time guy to end up at a national airline without having to do the regional thing.

Just got this email from management
I’m happy to announce that Ameriflight has signed an agreement to help facilitate our pilots being hired by Allegiant. We have agreed that if Ameriflight pilots have met specific eligibility requirements, they will be provided a guaranteed interview with preferential hiring at Allegiant.
The eligibility requirements for this program are:
1. First Class Medical
2. ATP with a type rating in one of Ameriflight’s aircraft.
3. 3,000 hrs total flight time. Of which:
a. 1,500 hours has to be while employed at Ameriflight
b. 1,000 hours has to be pilot in command of a turbine aircraft
4. Successful completion of Ameriflight training with 90% first time pass rate.
5. Employment at Ameriflight for 3 years.
6. During that 3 years – a minimum of 9 months in some type of supervisory role
(e.g. Training Captain, Check Airman, Program Mgr, Asst Chief Pilot, etc.) unless
waived by Ameriflight’s Chief Pilot.
7. Consent to release of employment records and performance reviews in a manner
satisfactory to Ameriflight.

Don't forget the Metro as well. You could probably get into a typed aircraft within a year. As long as you're willing to move and you don't get stuck at an outstation.

I don't know the situation now, but back when Allegiant was a more desirable place to be, getting an interview was pretty tough. Good internal recommendations were required, and guys getting on were typically much more qualified than what's listed here for the Ameriflight program.

That's such a bummer. I've got a lot of good buddies there. Hopefully they can get things pointed in a better direction with the first contract.

I'm sorry, but to me, your suggestion isn't even comparing apples to a food group. Ameriflight has: turbine PIC time, type rated equipment, MUCH better pay scales across the boards, vfr and IFR ops, vastly improves piloting skills, and teaches decison making/resource management beyond what a tour company could.
Nothing against tour pilots, I know quite a few, but Ameriflight seems like a much better option for anyone on the whole.
Additonally, every canyon tour person I've ever met and talked to (with the literal exception of 2 through the grapevine) will continue on to the regionals after quitting. Captains and FOs included.
Ameriflight is becoming a greater place to work every day, and I think the people that open their mouths with old information don't hold relevence towards what is happening now. Just my honest opinions.

Management is making changes but they are slow and they are going to have to do a lot more to keep pilots from leaving. I wouldn't call AMF a great place to work and this Allegiant interview agreement is to little to late.

Hopefully is better than regionals . I was offered a captain position on the Be99.
