I'm sure it can happen at Mesa, but the whole deal stinks on ice. Nothing will gain you more friends than jumping the seniority line by a decade so you can get yours.

It ain't happening yet. I know guys there 6+ years that are sitting right seat still. It is false promises that attract unknowing or ignorant people. AMF did the same stuff, I didn't know any better, neither did a bunch of others when we signed on.

Find me a pilot at AMF who is qualified to upgrade and willing to move a couple time zones, they will have all the opportunity in the world to do so. Hardly "the same stuff."

Check common sense facts. Most junior CA being 2013 is meaning that they are doing upgrades, but how long has that junior CA been with Mesa? It doesn't mean that everyone is getting upgraded in 2 years, Most bases being 2003 means the guys waiting 6+ years have a ways to go, so how does the fact that there is a junior CA upgraded in 2013 in IAD any indication that regional upgrades are happening quickly?

Hmmm, not sure I buy that, you're telling me that everyone else is going to be ok sitting right seat for a decade, but 1 guy gets hired last year and is already CA? Nobody else out of the 855 pilot group would take that bid? There is more to this than quick upgrades.

Talking to people at Mesa, it's true. That CA was going through upgrade class in either July or August of this year. Also the recruiter told me over my phone interview the same thing!

I went direct to a major airline after 9 years with Ameriflight. I've spoken with some pilots who are on the hiring board at my airline and they want recommendation letters, regional jet experience and of course military works also. If I were to do it again, I'd stay at AMF until I hit 1500 hours, get my ATP and head for the regionals. But I must admit, I look fondly back at my time with Cal Air Charter which later changed their name to Ameriflight. Like the great John Hazlett used to say "Ameriflight is like a self-cleaning oven"
