I was the most proficient pilot I've ever been after Airnet's training.

It costs more, but i'm thankful for it. It makes me sick to see what's going on right now.

Not necessary illegal. RVR above mins, thunderstorms dissipating and/or a safe distance from the flightpath, and this scenario is absolutely safe. You have no business flying single-pilot freight if you're scared off by approaches to minumums with tight deadlines.

yeah youre right about that, but it is also some people's first job. Usually you don't start out in a 777 and work your way into single pilot barons and 210's. Just a thought.

I flew at FLX years ago, but the training was good as was the mx.

As far as pressuring you to fly though... um, well it happened a lot. I told them no a couple times and my phone rang and rang until I left. Nothing like an unlicensed dispatcher to tell you when to fly *sarcasm*.

I'm of the opinion that either they are having a hard time finding pilots or that story is gossip for all the Airnet guys to drool over and laugh at the FLX guys. While I would divert for thunderstorms and make sure I was filed IFR during my time there, I was most certainly in the minority. Most guys prided themselves on never diverting for anything. While I don't condone that type of thinking it certainly differs from the current "high mins" story posted earlier.
So either that guy was a fluke or something has really changed at FLX in the last few years.

Long story short, anyone flying night freight should be given some respect. Those of us who have been there will certainly give it.

Unfortunately the story about the guy with "high mins" is absolutely true. An isolated incident at best but still strange not to fly with the given Wx at the time.

I also wouldn't say that FLX's training is not up to high standards. 4 out of 11 made it through for various reasons. As for the pilots there. I am still in my first week flying the line. I just got back (2 hrs. ago) from a 13 hour duty day. I flew about 1/3 of my flight in actual IMC, with rain, and a heavy wind in a single piston engine airplane with no auto pilot and no GPS, just VOR's, single pilot.

That sounds like a day on the DC9! Well, minus the no autopilot, single piston, single pilot.

OK, sorry for the thread jacking.

an former airnet route that has lately been being flown by FLX, has been cancelled by the bank because FLX was never on time. the bank decided to drive their cargo instead.

Not correct. The bank was planning on cutting that route for some time. Some of that work was consolidated with another route and the rest is being driven. It would have been cut whether Airnet was flying it or FLX. The banks are continually electing to drive more and more work as they try to cut costs.
