Air Cargo Carriers
I'm approaching 500 TT and 50 ME. (Probably two weeks away)
I'm looking at the ACC website and it says 500 and 50 for their minimums. Can I expect a call being right at minimums if I apply? Are they actually hiring?
If hired, what is a typical daily/weekly schedule at ACC?
Any current information on the company would be great. I've read the gouges and I've gone over their website, so I don't need any of that information. I just want to know what is happening lately at ACC. Is this a good place to work? Any other suggestions for someone with 500 TT and 50 ME would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, UNDGUY

I have a few friends that are there. The upgrade potential is great. One of my friends upgraded in just under a year. As soon as you have 135 PIC mins, you are fair game for upgrade. It sounds like there is a lot of craziness going on over there. Not too long ago, they were being very picky on hiring because they had a lot of company referrals. The referrals will get the call before someone who just submits their resume.

Hey the fast upgrades are a reality, but we aren't hiring... we are actually overstaffed. I think we quit accepting new resumes last week, and probably won't hire again until next year. Other than that, our on demand charter has kind of slowed down, there was some consolidation of management and staffing in that regard, and our DA-20 aircraft were returned to the leasor. On the up side, we may be buying aircraft from the now-defunct Skyway of Kissimmee, FL, and bidding for new routes!

Thanks for the info crimson. Hopefully things will get better with the new routes and airplanes and they will be hiring again soon. I will be looking out for updates. ACC seems like a good solid company to work for.

You're going to see a number of the on demand carriers like ACC slowing in the coming months/years. Their primary business is hauling car parts for the just-in-time inventory that various auto mfgs. use. Ford, GM, and Chrysler are cutting jobs and closing plants bigtime. The FBO I used to work for at STL saw a dramatic decline in business from USAJet, Ameristar, ACC and others when Ford closed their plant nearby. We used to see probably 2 dozen Falcons, Lears, Shorts and a handful of DC-9s and 727s every week just for this purpose.
I hope this isn't the case and it turns around. Most of the freightdogs that we dealt with were cool guys. It's a tough job but builds quick hours.
