Do any skydive operations hire SIC positions or is it strictly just 1 person PIC operations?

Very few aircraft used in skydiving require two pilots. Usually the SIC is someone who already has skydiving operations experience. Casa-212s, DC-3s and the Shorts 330 are the only two pilot required jump planes I know of in the USA.

An outfit near Tucson, Arizona is looking for an SIC for jumpers in a Casa 212.

Great thread. As someone completely ignorant about these operations, can one of you explain what training a new jump pilot gets, and what special skills and demands makes one a good jump pilot (and what deficiencies makes one a bad jump pilot)? How many hours do you all rack up, and how is pay determined? Sounds like a fantastic part-time gig if one can get the skill set down. Thanks.

There is no standard training. There is no FAA sign off. However, I run a website as a resource to fill that gap. It's free.
