Wow, perhaps if they get a qualified upgrade training curriculum approved and turn that 4 months into 1-2 then that will at least help reduce the bottleneck somewhat.

Yeah I thought it was crazy how guys who have been flying the 145 for two years have to go through the whole dang thing again.

The faa is not interested in qualifying that in the aqp program right now... heck.. the dash dec program was only approved recently last year.. and the e145 program not long ago.

Remember the fsdo is concerned about our growth and lack of infrastructure that Piedmont has failed to install.

If you're not upgrading because of min pay while in training, you don't want it enough and you should probably stay where you are.

That said, the pay should be much better

I think it possibly has to do more with how long it takes to get through training, but either way there are folks out there who could upgrade (which would greatly help the company)... the company just hasn’t made it enticing enough financially for them to do so.

Yup.. as a third year captain you will make less money than an fo right now.. senior fo has good schedules and 10k fo retention. Unless you plan on killing yourself with open time.. i would just say stay an fo.. plus your flow locked with upgrade from finish of soe for a year.

The amount of people who would have to worry about being locked out of flow because of taking an upgrade right now is extremely small. That group has no plans to upgrade and financials aren't part of their reasoning for the majority of them.

Don't get me wrong, it is absolutely pathetic that DECs are making more than CAs who have been here years. I am living through that and I am shocked people aren't making a bigger stink out of it.

I will be taking a pay cut when I upgrade. Insult to injury is the base first officer guarantee for up to 6 months in training.

Somethings got to give.

Not that’d I’d leave, but ENYs offer for DEC isn’t a bad proposition for its face value compared to just upgrading here.

If you are senior to me. I highly recommend envoy. Or frontier or spirit. 😉

PSA is offering similar terms on a limited basis... probably worth it for folks looking at staying in the same basing options long term.
