Default New hire sim instructors

Havent flown for a decade and thinking about diving back in. Have mostly part 91 turbo prop.
I want to get into training as I worked as an SFI for while a few years ago.

Any chance of a new FO being a sim instructor?

Definitely. It’s almost the preferred method to select candidates into training department as new hire FOs won’t be able to upgrade without picking up open time so they get a discount instructor who will likely to stick around for years.

Does PDT use PSI’s or are they all line pilots?

Sure, let’s bring people off the street with no 121 or 145 time and let them teach. Meanwhile, we have tons of qualified folks already on property doing everything they can to be a sim instructor, ground instructor etc and being told “no” because they can’t staff this place correctly. Seems like the only line pilots getting instructor slots are ones who “can’t handle the line life” then threaten to quit...

It definitely seems that there has been a bunch of that going on.

There have also been qualified line folks getting told “yes” who then to and botch their next CQ. That certainly doesn’t help them.

So that’s why they are using street guys. Can’t botch a CQ if you ain’t line qualified.

How is the quality of training at PDT?
How's GS instructors and Sim Instructors?
Other than the fact that there's long delays, are they at least doing a good job teaching you guys how to fly the 145?
They still doing sims in PHX, ATL, DAL, STL, and CLT?

PDT was known for being difficult with their Dash training.
That culture still holding true?

Thanks
