Really That Bad?
I am in the middle of making my decision on which regional to go to. I really want to be somewhere that I can eventually get CLT as a base, so I have narrowed my choices down to Piedmont and PSA.
While interviewing with Piedmont, they were able to make it seem like a good company to work for. However, when i read these forums, it makes it seem as if the exact opposite is true. I see many Piedmont pilots on this forum advising people not to come and fly for this company. So, is it really that bad? Is PSA really THAT much better?

The decision has never been easier, go to PSA. You’ll get the same out of it as you would here with a better QOL and more pay (they credit more and get paid more per hour)

I have a few good friends that are at PDT and they steered their spouses away from PDT. You want CLT, go to PSA. Mngnt would rather stick their head in the sand than actually come up with solutions to make their employees lives better.

It all depends on what you want. Newest hires in CLT are Sept hires. BUT. They’ll be sitting reserve for a couple months on top of the reserve they’ve already sat in PHL. No clue what PSA is at for time into CLT but I’m sure it’s probably a year and you’ll sit reserve longer. If you want the quickest route to CLT then PDT is your dude. If you want better trip regs and more time off, but a longer wait for CLT then do PSA. There’s no perfect answer; figure out what’s important to you and do it.
I chose PDT because I didn’t want to sit reserve for a year. I’ve enjoyed my time so far, good people who work hard.

At this point in time, PSA is a better choice. Go to PSA.
At PSA you’ll make more money and have a better schedule and more days off. The only downside is it will take you longer to get CLT, but honestly, it will be worth the wait since you’ll enjoy a far superior quality of life than if you were at PDT.
Sure things could change at PDT in the future (doubtful), and i’m sure the recruitment department has told you amazing things like you’ll be at American in 5 years (which is not true anymore for a new hire today).
Right now, there is no reason to choose PDT over PSA. Go to PSA, you’ll be happy that you did.

There have been pdt pilots who've gone to every other regional once here.. even a person who went to mesa.. people have left for charter and single pilot night cargo..
Some who have left and even came back.. but for the most part, everyone who had left, loves life once they leave.

Piedmont has been good for me and my family. It allowed my wife to be a stay at home mom.
That being said there are better options but the flow is a good back up plan even if it’s 7-8 years. There are countless guys at other regionals with more time that will never get the chance to work for a place like AA.
