For a lot of these guys this is their first real flying job. They dont know what they dont know. Do your best to educate, they won't be in that right seat for very long.

If you want to get down to nickles and dimes about it. 2500 a quarter, so $834/ month, or about $11/hr. Only if you’re working min guarantee. The more you work the less per hour that bonus is worth. Then once you upgrade (most people get 2, maybe 2 and a prorated payment) you get nothing. So overall it’s a win for the FOs and definitely the captains.

Unfortunately this may be true for some FOs.. however I was just about to get my first eligibility period and obviously we got this pay raise agreement. I am happier about the pay rates for our group as a whole and I also don’t SAP down, I SAP UP with not having the intention of being in the right seat for all the original retention bonus. I wish I got the bonus plus rates but I’m not worried about it like others might be, getting the money in rates is always better for a group in unity and I agree our captains were way overdue!

It’s long overdue, and brings Captain wages to a more reasonable level. This also the first time in five years I’ve seen PSA ALPA come up with a significant improvement without giving up too much. Hopefully this continues.
There was one positive aspect to the pay when it was structured with bonuses tied to nothing more than remaining on the seniority list. For those of us who had more economically advantageous activities to pursue than flying airplanes for PSA wages, 65 hours a month made the bonuses worth more on an hourly basis. The “permanence” off pay rates has value, for crtain, but I can understand how 65 hours/month First Officers can see some negative aspects as it relates to their situation.
I have willingly flown more than 65 hours only a half-dozen times in the five years I’ve been at PSA. This is directly related to how low the pay has been. Now that one of my primary frustrations with PSA has been resolved, I’m actually considering coming to work more often...and to be honest I’m struggling a bit to get adjusted to the idea that it might be worthwhile to do that. It’s not even about the money for me. It’s always been about the company patting themselves on the back in private for how cheaply they can operate, while they expect us to create the illusion of seamless service levels when passengers transition to/from mainline to PSA.
Now if they’d build more 1-2 day trips, and quit hiring Captains off the street at pay 50% higher than our existing, experienced Captains...

FO here, I love the new rates as I wouldn’t have saw much of the bonus money anyways. Always take the money up today because tomorrow isn’t always guaranteed.... I love it even more for CAs as for when I upgrade, I will finally be back to making the money I was making on a yearly basis after my 9 year stint in the military....
I expect this will also provide motivation for folks to upgrade willing now and not SAP down to 65 often....
